“Because I like being the opposition. It’s fun. What, I’m hilarious. You love my jokes, S. Don’t lie. Lying isn’t good for you. Yeah, it’s just like the days before you go to jail. It’s really similar. No, no way. I am not a mom of any sort. I’m, like, a cool older sister. Yes, it is, and we’re never speaking of it again. You’re welcome. I know how important they are, don’t worry. Well, it’s a good thing you’ve got me around.”
“I think I’ve had that figured out for a long time now. Who says I’m lying? But fine, you do have some nice jokes sometimes, but I’m easy to amuse so it’s not that big of a compliment. So you’re comparing adulthood and getting a job to going to jail? Isn’t that a bit harsh though? Okay, but I already have too many siblings, so maybe you’d be more like an older cousin who I grew up with. Okay, I promise to never bring it up, unless it’s to use it against you. Yes, good thing I have you around in case any car trouble comes up, even though I barely even drive, I prefer running.”
“Of course you do. It means you are hot and free and yeah– This just got really awkward. Your mom’s craziness was one of my favorites. Only three years? And here I was thinking we had reached the mark of half a decade. Weirdly enough, it does make sense. You always made sense to me, Summer.”
“Yes, awkward, yes. Even though both of those adjectives are right. Oh really? What are your other favourites then? Wait --- it really was five years. Damn it, how come you disappeared on me for that long? I made sense to you?”
“I only called you that because I know how much you love being the personification of the season you were named after. Speaking of which, how is your crazy mom doing? It really has been forever. You look– different.”
“Pfft, it’s my favorite thing in the world actually. My mom is okay, still crazy, but that’s normal of her. It’s been... Three years, I believe. So do you, more... Well, less boyish. More like a man, if that makes sense.”
“I wouldn’t say always. Ah, right. I forgot that little detail. Nope, it’s rude. Just… spelled really differently. Well, the adult world sucks and I’m not trying to scare you. I’m just speaking the truth. A soccer mom? Now that, is definitely something I am not, thank you very much. But I really am proud of you, S, as cheesy and disgusting loving as that sounds. It’s really not that complicated if you’re into it, but I guess you’re too busy focusing on layups and three pointers to think about engines.”
“You never really agree with me anyway. You’re so not funny and I’m so not laughing. I’m just trying to grasp the days I have left as a free person, really. You’re not? I really thought we had that kind of relationship, but with basketball. So like, a basketball mom. Ew, that is cheesy. But alright, if you want to go there, thank you, I mean, I appreciate that. Hey, three pointers are actually very important, and believe me, I couldn’t get it if I tried.”
aymiguel:
“Nope, I really can’t, but I can’t say this new Summer is unwelcome. Well, you know me. I cut like a knife. Maybe that’s a sign I should shave sometime soon. I wouldn’t say I’m not at all good. There’s some good things in my life right now. Really? No fights with frat boys or anything of the like?”
“I’m flattered to not be unwelcome then, even though it’s a bit offensive you didn’t think I’d actually turn out to be a woman. Yes, and you still got it buddy. If you want to, you should do it, but I think it suits you. Like what, for example? Oh, I thought fights with frat boys were normal.”
“So I have heard. Summer June, is that really you?”
“I should hit you for calling me that, but I’ll let it slip because it’s --- oh god, I haven’t seen you in such a long time.”
“Well, good. You shouldn’t get used to it. Yeah, that it is. Holy… Damn, I can’t believe it’s you. A beard? What? No, it’s… not even a legitimate beard. Just some scruff, you good. I’ve been good, too, as good as I get in this place. How’s, uh, college and all that?”
“What, you can’t believe I actually grew a pair of boobs and some self-confidence? You wound me deeply. It’s enough of a beard for me, actually. Does that mean you’re not all good? College has been okay, nothing too exciting.”
