No because Seb honoring Nigel is actually so important. This sport’s memory is so short sometimes. We honor so many of the multi-world champions but Nigel is still the second most successful British driver of all time (after Lewis). And he so overlooked. Jenson and Nico are still young and good looking, they get to be on Sky. Alain and Mika are legends. Michael, Ayrton, and Niki: myths. But what about those in between? Champions who aren’t myths just yet? Well respected and well loved, yes. But Nigel keeps his head down, took a step back. He doesn’t ask to be revered, he’s still active, but he doesn’t seek attention. The way he bowed to both Seb and Lewis when talking to them. He must’ve felt so special. You could see the pure joy on his face, in the way he hugged Lewis and Seb so tight. In a time where Michael’s and Lewis’ feats are so groundbreaking, even Seb’s four championships aren’t as impressive to some people; even though what Seb has accomplished is incredible! I think we don’t appreciate our living legends enough these days. But Sebastian Vettel, Mr. I Can Name Every World Champion Ever, he doesn’t forget. He understands the importance of honoring the ones that came before us. He saw this under-appreciated champion and said, “You’re going to feel some love at your home grand prix. I’m going to make sure of it.” History isn’t a far away as we think it is. Honor those you have while you still can.
