Dear New Moms, Whatever you are feeling, other new mothers have felt. Our experiences might be different in texture and pitch, but the thread that strings feeling states together is well worn and might be eerily familiar. You are not alone. The statistics are glaring. Postpartum mood disorders are indisputably the most silenced and psychologically&
"Let’s change the language, and the lack of it. Let’s dare ourselves to abandon antiquated shame and move toward a more connected sense of sturdiness and courage. We are all flawed and luckily our children do not need us to be perfect in order to set them up to thrive." Dr. Jessica Zucker
Thanks to CrappyPictures.com for this! Happy Mother's Day!!!

"Yesterday, I witnessed a miracle for the very first time. In fact, I'm still getting emotional when I remember mum seeing her daughter for the very first time! It was the most magical moment I have ever experienced, aside from having my own children. It is such an absolute pleasure and honor to share some of these images with you." Finally, some honestly without shaming around the subject of miscarriage.
"My heart sags as I collect countless unfortunate stories of loss and the way women believe they caused it. Maybe in blaming themselves for the unthinkable reproductive tragedies they feel a shred of control, hoping this might yield a very different outcome next time? Passionately perfecting pregnancy is not within our wheelhouse. We are not in charge of chromosomes. Culture tells us that we can have what we want when we want it if we just try hard enough to attain it. Perhaps we so desperately believe we can achieve anything we put our minds to that women feel an unruly amount of competitiveness despite logically knowing there is not much we can control here. Maybe it leaves us too vulnerable to think that we can become a reproductive statistic just by being who we are? I'd like to invite women to believe, if only for a moment, that what they have journeyed through is not a fault of their own but instead a very real possibility for anyone brave enough to get messy in the making of babies." - from the anonymous writer of the article

Attending births is like growing roses. You have to marvel at the ones that just open up and bloom at the first kiss of the sun, but you wouldn’t dream of pulling open the petals of the tightly closed buds and forcing them to blossom to your time line.
