It’s funny, if you ask a Republican in Congress if they believe in climate change, they say, well, uh, I’m not a scientist. “I’m not a scientist” — that’s what they say. But when it comes to a woman’s right to choose, suddenly they’re a doctor.

Natalie Dormer on the Jonathan Ross Show, Nov 6th 2014
"But remember, it is a sin to kill a mockingbird."
Hey friends.
As you probably know by now, I saw Andrea Gibson live last night at Eastern Michigan University. After the show, I got to meet them, which was the most fulfilling moment of my 20 years. Something they said during the show though, between poems, has been ringing in my ears all day.
"There are lots of different closets to come out of."
We all know the sexuality closet, but there’s the gender closet and the violence closet and the grief closet and the confusion closet and the idkwhatthefuckimdoing closet and really, anything secret or unknown about your identity as a god damn human puts you in some closet somewhere.
I don’t want to be in any closets. Ever again.
Inspired by andrewgibby, I’d like to introduce myself to you kids.
My name is Darcy Elizabeth. I am 20 years old. I’m a 3.89 student at a Catholic university. I write for a major magazine, my college’s website, as well as the campus newspaper. I have a dog named Huckleberry Finn. I am cisgender and bisexual. And I was sexually assaulted on January 2nd, 2010. I was 15 then. He was a boy I had met once before. His name was Michael. Somehow, we ended up dating. I thought it was normal until I realized it wasn’t. He doesn’t know he assaulted me. I thought it was time I should talk about it. If anyone has had a similar experience or wants to talk, you’ve got a friend here. No one should have to stay in the closet if they don’t want to.
