You owe me coffee || Liam
tomorrow-is-our-today:
Liam paused as she wrapped her arms around his waist because while he wanted to, he wasn’t sure he should - this was Grace Singh, his mentor and godfather’s daughter. He wasn’t supposed to see her that way. Resting one hand on her waist, the other stroked her hair comfortingly. “You’re family Grace and protecting you is risking enough for him, I don’t want to burden him with any more.”
He attention followed hers to the tv and he frowned. They were making an example of her, showing not even the powerful were free of persecution. Nowhere was safe for metas. He clenched his jaw, looking down to her and nodding in agreement. “We should find your father - he might be able to help.”
She squeezed her eyes closed, a little sister, that’s all Liam would ever see her as and it hurt like hell. She gathered her strength before pulling back, “Like you said, we’re family. That means he’d do it for you. It’s not asking too much. You protected me. You could let him protect you,” Grace insisted. She wanted him safe, if that meant giving him up, she would.
“She’s not a meta, Liam,” Grace whispered. “They’re going to fake it. Oh god, they’re condemning a human for standing against them.” Grace said her voice filled with horror. Jax had been right. Argus had crossed the invisible line like so many evil regimes before them. She nodded, moving away towards her room to start packing a bag.
