“Yes, dear sister, we’re going to leave. the. hotel.”
‘ No Vivien....No. I’m not going...we Can’t. --- ‘
‘ Leave the hotel...? Leave the hotel? There’s no way that’s happening...not at all... ‘
“Have you ever… had a dream?”
“ One that you...uhm...you....you can...uhm...well...you....I...Oh....never mind... --- “

It was hard for Vivien to remain calm with Grace, just because of how timid and quiet she was. She was sweet, the polar opposite of dear Viv. It said a lot that Vivien even let her in her room in the first place, as it was filled with things that Grace had already seen. Memories of their life, their childhood, and Vivien’s solo adventures into stardom. Things that Vivien had always been so protective of, and letting someone into her room was a big deal, especially if she knew them so well. “Stop,” She stated flatly, her voice sounding more harsh than she intended it to be. Sighing a small sigh, Vivien reached a hand out from the bed where she sat, ushering Grace to come closer. “You can stay.” With effort, her voice was calmer, more understanding. “I’d like it if you stayed.”
Grace jumped at her sisters voice as she instructed her to stop. Small things like that made a ripple of fear strike through her. No one knew the dark secrets of her past that she held deep inside, no one truly knew fully why she was the way she was. Her petite frame trembled slightly before she took a deep breath calming herself back down. Glancing at her sisters hand she took a few steps over. “R...Really? You’d like me to stay...?” She whispered, shocked by the revelation. Taking small strides over she finally took a seat on the bed moving her hands in her lap, her dress lightly flowing around her. “H...how are you?”
Glancing around her room, one that people rarely entered, Vivien huffed a small sigh. It was just Grace, and although they were sisters, Vivien never really shared much of her own private life with the pixie-haried girl. “Yeah, it’s open,” She called out, even if Grace could just float through the damn wall if she pleased. “What can I help you with?”
When she got the okay to come in she used the knob turning it, and opening the door. She quietly walked in and closed the door behind her lightly biting her lip. “ Oh...nothing...I just, I suppose I wanted to come see you... “ She didn’t look up. It was very rare that Grace looked anyone in the eye, she felt too inferrer to the opposing person. “ I...I can go...I’m sorry I bothered you... “
“ Viv...? Vivien...it’s uhm...it’s Grace. Can I come in? “ Grace lightly knocked on her sisters door.

“Grace?” Sam repeated carefully. “That what you said? You’re a little quiet, don’t you know. Or maybe I’m getting old.”
❝ Y...yes...Grace... ❞ She pursed her lips lightly blinking a few times. Tapping her fingers against her book she took a breath. ❝ I’m soft spoken...always have been...people don’t hear me and I’m okay with that...❞
“Can I help you? I probably wont but could I?”
“Oh...” Grace lightly bit her lip before shaking her head. “N..never mind...” Grace was going to ask if he could retrieve a book for her, she was too short to collect for herself. “ I’m sorry... “
"Are you shivering?"
❝ I…oh yes…It’s quite cold in my room…there is this contraption that blows out ghastly cold air…I do not know how to stop it… ❞ She shivered, her pale skin paler as her nose was a bright red.
“There’s a library in the hotel but it doesn’t have that great a selection”
❝ That’s true...I’ve read every book in there cover to cover at least twenty times...my favorites a few times more. ❞
“A lot, besides the public school system, technology has advanced beyond your wildest dreams, in the US all races, genders, and sexual orientations are legally equal. Microwave ramen, um there are some great stories classics you’ve probably never read”
A lot of what he said didn’t interest her. Like technology for instance, she liked doing things the old fashioned way, even if it meant it was going to be harder. A few things confused her. ❝ S..sexual orientations...? Microwave ramen?B...books!? ❞ She exclaimed happily. ❝ W...where may I find them? ❞

“Yeah I’ve been here for three years but I keep decent connection to the outside world”
❝ I...it appears I’ve been here for a...um a very long time...I never left my room...w...what’s changed out there? The outside world I mean... ❞
“Huh? I already have, she’s a nice lady. But why would I wanna do that when I’m talkin’ to you?”
❝ O...Oh...normally...I...never mind... ❞ She didn’t know what to do, someone wanted to speak to her, after meeting the fabulous Vivien. A new friend maybe. ❝ I...G...Grace... ❞
Vivien frowned, resisting the urge to roll her eyes at her sister’s words. “Listen, no one gives a hoot about who I am these days. People barely recognize me. Someone that might actually like me… doesn’t even know who I am, doesn’t even know that I’m dead. It’s been seventy years, Grace. I’m not famous like I used to be. No one cares. It’s your turn to steal people’s attention — and look at you, you’re beautiful and you’re soft.” It felt strange, a compliment coming from her lips, especially because it was directed towards Grace. They barely spoke, and when they did, it was catty. “Give people a chance.”
Her sisters sudden words made her flinch. She forgot time had passed since they both met their death in the hotel. A young man mentioned it was early twenty-sixteen. The time had flown by so quickly. Nothing was the same. Looking at her sister she pursed her lips once more. “We...well...tell this guy that likes you...” she murmured firstly. “I...I can’t steal any s...spotlight...look at me...I...I’m not pretty enough...and you’re just saying that because you’re my sister...” she whispered a blush bursting onto her features. After contemplating a few moments, with a sigh of defeat she spoke up.“A...alright...I’ll do it...”
”Good afternoon ghouls and goblins, can’t say I’m excited about the exact circumstances but good ol Cheshire’s back in action and ready to paaaaaarty!”
“Or whatever it is you do after returning from a dirt nap. I’m sure it’s party.”
“I...I’m no ghoul or goblin...” Grace softly spoke glancing away. As the male mentioned he was asleep she spoke up again. “Y..You’ve slept a long while as well...?”
