Had an awesome day visiting Sedlec Ossuary yesterday! I've been a massive fan girl for this place for over a decade, I'm so happy to find that they are renovating it and cleaning all the bones. There are approximately around 60,000 skeletons within the grounds. The Sedlec Ossuary is a small Roman Catholic chapel located beneath the Cemetery Church of All Saints, part of the former Sedlec Abbey in Sedlec, a suburb of Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic. They had an excess of skeletons so one guy decorated the entire Ossuary with the remains, it took most of his life. So, so, soooo pleased with this piece which was made for someone special this season. The rainbow held a special meaning to the family and as I'd never made a rainbow lamp before I had no idea how it was going to turn out or if all the colours would become insipid when I stretched the lamp. They obviously didn't which was splendid, helped by the white and bubby bits in the core which really help the rainbow colours pop. I love this picture which is where the lamp lives now. Gave myself permission to make something I've wanted to try for ages. The white marble patterned strip flanked by two mirrored lines were all applied hot and made this cylinder vase quite difficult to blow out evenly. Took advantage of some bright sunlight to photograph this paperweight, it came out so sparkly! I made it to show a boy how we put the bubbles in to the solid glass.
