“I disagree, I have never made a mess within your lap.” Gabe said as he smiled before looking at her before he pointed at her face. “You know, there’s nothing more interesting than a human test subject.” He grinned as he tried to get Jack that date.
“Besides, you stripped me of my weapons.” He said, a flashback to him death blossoming the entire lab as he was laughing, Reyes was obviously drunk.
“I am a full believer of all the trouble you can get into while disarmed.” She retorted with a pout, leaning over to fetch the patient chart which held Gabriel’s information. She turned her back to him, and for a moment, she was pondering. No, this was such a silly idea. Still, she was in desperate need of fresh air. Staying in the lab for too long left her feeling…sterile and ironically unclean. “I suppose that might not be the worst idea…though I will show you no mercy if you both are scheming some prank against me. So, don’t even thing of dirtying up my laboratory while I’m away.”
“Why would I do that?” Reyes said in a taunting manner as if he wasn’t scared of the doctor doing anything to him. Besides, he was being a best friend with Jack, giving him this date.
“Now you better hurry up and get to his shift before he leaves, you know how he is with these types of things. Just….make him a bit happy….he’s not been the same since the mission in France.” Reyes pulled up his hood and smiled at her. “He needs this.”
“I’ll hurry up, don’t worry about that.” She retorted quietly, a light smile tugging at the corner of her lips as she filed away Gabriel’s chart neatly into a cabinet by her desk. She paused and slipped off her lab coat for once, leaving her in the red sweater and black pencil skirt with tights she wore beneath the billowing white coat. “And don’t worry, you’re not due for any vaccinations anytime soon…though I’ll allow you to those lollipops still. First drawer in my desk, but don’t eat too many of them while I’m gone; I don’t want you to become diabetic from feasting on all that sugar.” She then turned on her heels and began to walk out the door. Angela paused for a brief moment to glance back to Gabriel with a fleeting sweet smile. “Thank-you, Gabriel.” She quietly said before leaving the medical bay, now entering the large corridor within the base in hopes of finding one Jack Morrison.
Gabe nodded his head as he watched her leave and when the door shut, he began to call someone. “Amigo, we are clear….” He nodded as he heard a knock on the door later.
“Howdie, Jefe.”
Meanwhile, Jack Morrison was sitting at the sentry post, a tower looking at a rather nice view. His eyes were wide open, fearful that when he closed them they would be back in the battlefield. His fingers rubbed his head as he tried to do his job dutifully.
Angela gets called a miracle worker on a daily basis for the extraordinary feats she performs when the injured return from battle. Yet, she isn’t able to heal all injuries. Some wounds cannot be healed with ointments or medication. No, her Caduceus Staff nor Valkyrie suit were a match for wounds inflicted on the mind, on the soul.
That’s where the human beneath it all–not Mercy, but Angela Ziegler–can excel where her nanobiotic technology cannot. Hoping to prove herself as a doctor and friend, she approached Jack quietly, knowing his mind was likely elsewhere. At least the view was soothing. Not wanting to sneak up on him, she cleared her throat and kept her gaze out on the horizon. “I have to admit that the sights here fair better than my own lab…perhaps I ought to get a picture frame of a scenic view such as this.” She paused and glanced over at the blonde man with a smile that could melt the sun. “How are you, Jack?”
“I’m fine, Angela. Thank you for asking.” He said snapping out of the gaze he had as he smiled at the doctor, not knowing why she was here but enjoying her company. He stood up, showing off his rather tall and strong build. “Why are you up here, is it your shift again?”
He seemed to have a way with words, obviously trying to seduce her into liking him. Truly though, Jack knew he inspired people, he was always the first one in and the last one out. Morrison, thus, saw more than anyone else.
