Lux hesitated, not wanting to talk about it. Victor was going to kill her if he found out. âIt was⊠it was nothing.â She tried to play it off with a soft laugh but it was more awkward than anything. âDonât read too much into it.â He face felt flush and she looked down at the ground. Lux flexed her fingers some, wiggling her hand until it was in his grasp instead of her wrist. It felt weird to be close to someone, especially a guy like Grant. She wasnât even sure why she wanted to be anywhere near him but heâd somehow wormed his way in. âLook, can we not tell Victor I did that or that I liked it or that I have any kind of emotions at all right now because he doesnât need to be worried about me like that when heâs already worried enough that Iâm going to get turned into a snack cake for a walker. And you can pretend it didnât happen too. No hard feelings. Sorry.â
Grant had never seen Lux like this before, so flustered and speechless. Not that he couldnât say the same about himself, but she had just kissed him after yelling at him so he supposed he was allowed a brief moment of confusion. His eyes searched hers for an explanation but he was never good at reading people, he wished he could now though. Donât read too much into it, she says as she slips her hand into mine. He thinks to himself, his gaze drifting down to their linked hands before he quickly pulls his own back. Her words mostly going in one ear and out through the other, his mind only catching onto three of those words. He knew she felt awkward, hell he felt awkward. Damn her for making me feel awkward. Grant clenched his jaw and finally got a hold of himself, shoving his hands into his pockets. âDonât do that again.â
