I have abandonment issues.

My father died when I was twelve years old and since then I don’t trust anyone to stay in my life. I don’t feel this way on purpose because I think it’s cute. I feel this way because since he died it’s the only way I know how to feel. I don’t know how to believe someone won’t just walk out my life. Three years ago I fell head over heals in love with a man that had cancer. He passed away too. I didn’t date him with the knowledge that he was going to leave this earth, but he did. It killed me in ways people don’t even know. My aunt passed away last year to cancer as well. It was crazy because she started getting better. It felt like a miracle. She could walk around and she could eat solid foods again … Then out of nowhere she left this earth. They all left me. This is why I constantly need validation in relationships. Whether it’s a boyfriend or just a friend in general. I’m always on my toes. Always ready to adjust. Never trusting completely because I know that at any given moment, people I care for can leave. I’m not saying dying is the only way they leave. I’m saying a friend could betray my trust or a boyfriend can decide that he doesn’t want the same things anymore. Because of my experiences with death and how close I was to them, I don’t see things the same. I walk into every relationship thinking to myself that it won’t last… unfortunately , they never do.
