Despite himself even Apollo managed a gentle smile, trust Clay to pull him out of the dumps like that. If moon could be that positive about the future why shouldn’t he be? “I’m glad to hear it!” (You’re just like him, ugh, what am I saying?! They’re the same person!…) Actually, the more Apollo thought about it, how could they be? They’d lived in totally different environments, the same name and same face didn’t mean the same values and beliefs. Nevertheless there was an inherit kindness in this Clay, the same positive outlook despite hardship that struck a chord with Apollo.
“I’ve gotta say I’m impressed, you’re made of tough stuff! Tougher than moon rock!” Apollo chuckled, though it did subside when moon mentioned the Clay from his world. Apollo couldn’t even begin to describe his feelings, how he wished he had another opportunity to say the little things like ‘thank you’ and ‘I love you’. It was corny, stupid even but it haunted him. “He meant the world to me, and thanks, I really appreciate that.”
He paused in contemplation.
“You know what? With all these universes I feel like we never really die. Clay might be gone from my world but maybe he’s just moved to another and we’ll meet again one day, just like I got to meet you! So really, no matter what, we’ll always be fine!”
The teen smiled at the change of attitude. Moon had often been told that moon was very good at helping others in times of grief, and moon was incredibly glad that moon seemed to have those powers.
"I'm going to try my best to get back on track, so you have to as well! That's how it goes, right? 'Cause everything's gonna be fine after we're out of the Dark Ages!"
Clay watched and listened to the other as he spoke. Moon had decided moon liked this Apollo. He seemed upbeat and a generally nice person, and that was... that was good. Clay liked it when other people were happy, no matter what position moon moonself may be in.
"Thanks, although I don't think it's possible to be tougher than moon rock, I mean that stuffs pretty tough!" Clay smiled and rubbed the back of moons neck as moon did quite frequently. "You know, he really is with you. If he meant that much to you, I guarantee that he really never left you. Sure, you can't see him, but he's there."
The teen nodded as Apollo spoke. It seemed this guy had the right idea!
"Yep, maybe he's just in a different universe, waiting to move back to yours. Who knows, you two could totally run into each other! Wouldn't be the strangest thing that's happened!"
