Soul Bound 👻

Years after the demise of Berk’s rightful heir, Astrid Hofferson undergoes a ceremonial ritual to inherit the role. In doing so, she assumes a birthright that is not her own in the eyes of the gods. On top of this new responsibility, she’s unable to shake the uncanny feeling of being watched: a fear proven justified when she finds the mysterious Dragon Master lurking in the woods outside Berk. Soul Bound 👻

“...he was happy, was he not?” There was a desperate hope in those words – a plea of sorts – and it made Astrid’s heart ache.  It was a complicated question. Hiccup had only truly started to thrive – to really live – once he’d left Berk behind. The dreams had shown her the beauty of his adventures – the places he’d gone, the discoveries he’d made. It wasn’t all positive, though. Astrid had seen the signs of self-isolation and paranoia – the way that he didn’t lean on his friends, even when they wanted to help. She’d seen the way Hiccup threw himself into the raids, risking his life tirelessly to save people and dragons across the archipelago – only to be vilified.  “I like to think he was,” she settled on. It was true enough; she wanted to believe that the good outweighed the bad, but who was she to measure the scales of another’s life?
