Manga Recommendation: Tokyo Alien Brothers
It is something AM in the morning and yet I feel compelled to share this cute manga I came across recently. (This is not some serious, in depth analysis, I am only capable of rambling incoherently at this time.)
There are only a few chapters out so far, but it has potential. I like the art style and the story. As the name suggests, there are 2 brothers who are actually aliens in Tokyo. They have disguised themselves as humans to infiltrate and study humans and planet Earth.
Here is the little brother Fuyunosuke:
Seems like the typical cute airhead right? But then there is this:
He is not so simple after all (a trope I seem to love).Ā
And here is the older brother Natsutarou:
Seems like the hot headed older brother figure right? That is actually true. But he is also a big dork.
Since there is only 6 chapters out so far, I canāt really say much yet, other than its been fresh and enjoyable so far. I look forward to the family/ brother bonding moments. Anyway it seems mostly lighthearted with a few rare moments of seriousness. (Perfect for me b/c I canāt handle too much angst and drama at this moment.)
Spoiler Alert!
From the last part of Chapter 6, it seems that the little brother knew all along that he was more capable than his older brother, and that he wants to protect Natsutarou as much as he can. After all, look at this adorable NEET:
I hope this manga lives up to its potential and stays original.
Bonus:
Here is their alien form in case anyone is curious.
In regard to a prev. ask
To the anon that said the kid Rido possessed was not Ridoās son, I am not 100% if that kid is his son, but in the fanbook it states that Rido does have a son besides Senri with an unknown female.
It is most logical to assume that unnamed kid is that child mentioned in the guidebook. Otherwise if it was another kid, there is no real reason to mention him/her since he/her didnāt show up in the manga.
Also, I can 100% say that whoeverās kid he might be, he is definitely not Senriās uncleās son. It is stated right in the manga Senriās uncle has no children.
As you also pointed out, a pureblood doesnāt needs to be related to a person for him/her to control that person. Ā However, I think that the pureblood has to be related to a person in order to take over their body (e.g. Shizuka and Maria are distant relatives). Because if they donāt need to be related, I doubt Rido or Shizuka would have to go through so much trouble to possess someoneās body, they could have just taken any random personās body.
Hi I'd just like to clarify that the young boy isn't actually Rido's son. He's another child from the Shiki family presumably Senri's uncle's child. Thus making him Senri's cousin or something along those lines but definitely not Rido's son. You don't necessarily need to be blood related in order for a Pureblood to control another individual. Also, because of the Shiki family's loyalty to Rido and the council, Senri's uncle willingly gave Rido access to control the child, but he's not Rido's son
Is this mentioned in the guidebook or something? Didnāt the manga say that Senriās uncle had no children (and thus he wanted Senri to follow in his footsteps or something)? Can you tell me where you got this (which book/chapter/page)? Ā Interesting...I always thought that was his son.Ā
Rido and this Cute Kid
I have a question that sounds stupid : How did Rido make this kid?Ā
Obviously he did the thing, but how did he manage to do the thing? Wasn't his body still regenerating? When Senri first saw him he still looked like this:
Look at that hand! And that was apparentlyĀ āprogressā. I canāt even imagine what his body looked like a few years ago. He probably looked like something that belonged on a dissection table at med school or something. Basically veryĀ āgrossā (in Senriās words).

Yay new VK blog to follow! I'm especially happy to know that you like Takuma, since he's favorite character of mine. What are your thoughts about Hanabusa?
Oh wow, sorry I didn't see this until now! tumblrās messaging system sucks...
Anyway, I think Hanabusa has matured a lot over the course of the manga. I think he is a pretty cool kid overall, but something that I wish he would change is to stop being so slavish/ devoted to Kaname. Its kind of cute how loyal he is, but it gets annoying.Ā

Thoughts on VK Fleeting Dreams Light Novel [Part 2 - Sara]
I actually found this story kind of sweet, because it shows that Sara was notĀ always such a conniving, scheming person. She was also innocent when she was a kid. It was also interesting seeing Ichio as a young man. I wonder if he was a very different man back then, compared to the shrewd, manipulative, and cold-hearted man he later became. Time and the harsh reality really takes its toll on the ones that live too long...
Anyway the only that thing that really stuck me was this:
āMy parents too had perished by my own hand long ago...ā
So according to this light novel, Sara also killed her parents like Rido did? Is this a trend among pure bloods? To have children and know that later on their own offspring will likely kill them? Kaname did mention in vol. 6 (?) that he was glad Aidou didn't suspect him to have killed his own parents...so does that imply its something that isn't uncommon? That is very disturbing...
Thoughts on VK Fleeting Dreams Light Novel [Part 1- Rido]
So awhile back I read the VK Fleeting Dreams novel. I havenāt read the other light novels but my impression is that the characters seem somewhat OOC, and it was like reading fan fiction. I really wonder how canon the light novels are; it seems that some things contradict things in the manga, though Hino does have a lot of plot holes. The biggest problem I had was the story with Rido, the one detailing his obsession with Juuri. From what I remember of him in the actual manga, I didn't think he was crazy to start with. I always assumed he wasn't that bad when he was young but after Juuri chose Haruka instead that was the turning point, when he started going mad and really evil.Ā
The most shocking and rather incredulous thing in the story is that he apparently killed both his parents. First of all, it is true he can be a piece of shit, he killed his own little brother and his infant nephewā¦but still itās quite something for him to kill both his mom and dad too. There must be a LOT of family issuesā¦how did they raise him for him to turn into such a mad man? And from what little is seen in the story, they didn't seem to care for him much even when he was young⦠they sensed he was capable of great evil, but seemed to only care about protecting Juuri instead of doing anything to help protect Rido from his own darkness. Thatās pretty screwed up parenting- and if this was 100% canon than I think quite a bit of the blame falls on the parents for not trying to help him but just condemning him straight off the bat. What kind of good parent knowing that their son is at risk doesn't bother doing anything to prevent him from going down the wrong path? Instead, they just sit back and look at their own son in disgust and scorn?
Anyway, the second issue I couldn't get over is how did he manage to kill both his parents? Not just one older (and theoretically more powerful) pureblood, but two? Rido was strong but I doubt he was THAT strong. The only explanation is that he had hidden a hunter weapon with him, like when he killed Haruka. But that makes you wonder how they could not sense it⦠after all in the manga Isaya could sense that Yuuki had Artemis hidden in her bag.

who are your favorite vk characters?
Oh wow, an ask :O Anyway I would have to say Shizuka (that's pretty obvious lol). I also like Takuma a lot. I find Rido and Sara fun and interesting as characters, but I wouldn't list them asĀ āfavoritesā. Tbh I am more interested in the side characters than the main trio (they donāt interest me much). Thanks for the ask!

What was Shizukaās life like before she met her human and all the ensuing events? [Part 1]
It is interesting to wonder about Shizukaās life in her cage prior to falling in love with her human and all the stuff that ensued. I really wonder what her life would be like if she had not met her human. Her encounter with her human meant the end of the monotony that had characterized her life for the past 3 thousand years- that meeting was probably more important to her than an asteroid striking the planet. If she had not met him she probably would be doing the exact same thing she had been doing the prior 3 thousand years, and would have continued doing that until God knows when.
