Spent New Year’s Eve with new friends and realized I’m not good at it
So I was helping out my friend visualize what her Mr. Right™ would look like...
Hi, this is a small reminder that this blog is supposed to be about Graywalkers.
I took a break from my busy schedule (i.e. playing Assassin's Creed) to make this! Story will continue on the next entry for quest log.
A good indie dev friend of mine, Sky Senshi, or Dr. Beam... I don't know how she prefers to be addressed in the Internets... released her game, Prologue: A Guardian Story. She'll be using the sales from this game to fund her other games, so help her out and buy it!
Buy it! Do it now! Don't worry, I'll wait!
Done? Ok.
So while I was playing, I encountered one of the nondescript villains, which, as far as I can tell, was only there for the sake of plot, and establish the mood. He's the first mini-boss fight and after you defeat him, you pretty much forget him after that.
I found the apparently hurriedly written script for this part to be particularly funny. Coupled with the way the protagonist's face never changes in any of the dialogues (understandably because of the tight budget), it added to the uncanny humor.
I've always found villain clichés to be funny, and I have a habit of pointing out how ridiculous they can sometimes get, as I tweet about them a lot in my alternate Twitter account: @vgamedevadvice.
Meanwhile, in the office, we recently got a 13-inch Cintiq, and so, naturally, I, being the respected professional that I am, immediately used it to draw a comic of questionable value and juvenile humor.
Using the Cintiq is very very pleasant. It makes me want to draw more and more again. I've always preferred traditional pencil and paper for sketching, and this might be just what I needed.
So here's Quest Log #3: Non-specific Villain Encounter
I've had this idea for a long time of a cat character who was always calm even during the intense fights, intent only in drinking tea and relaxing/meditating. Somehow it always manages to survive unscathed.
At one point she/he got conscripted as a power ranger in an emergency, still drinking tea and apparently oblivious to the gravity of the situation, and yet she/he performed better than anyone else at the time.
Second picture is my reference for the Assault Goat she/he is riding. The goat is also chewing a piece of paper. That is a reference to Nichijou.
This came into my head while I was dreaming, so I sketched it immediately after waking up.
I don't know what the hell it is though. Reminds me of that Papo & Yo monster.
Any dream interpreter out there able to explain this to me?
I've been learning a language (via Duolingo) as one way to cope with my anxiety. One time I made a mistake and laughed out loud so much that people in the room turned their heads at me. Here's what I visualized in my head.
Duolingo users will understand.
So while I was googling (I forgot what I was googling for), I came across this, the Powered Jacket MK3. (Looks like a competitor to the Kuratas.)
Here's the promotional video (flat-chested schoolgirl not included in purchase).
Anyway, I honestly thought the robot arms were connected to her head like ear buns, in that image. So I drew a quick sketch to mull about it for a while.
Probably not plausible, but this is Japan we're talking about here; making sense is not a requirement.
So I don't have anything to show today cause I left my drawing tablet in the office, LOL.
But here's some amazing concept art from our team. Hot off the press! Go team!
Orcus, the demon lord of the dead, after a nice shave.
The Texan cowgirl. We have no name for her yet.
I am questioning her choice of protective clothing. Maybe she's not off to combat in the photo??? ¯\_(•_•)_/¯ ???
More info on our crowd-funding campaign here! I like you!
If you've watched the horror movie V/H/S you'll get it.
ADVENTURE!!!!
