My kids are still quite young (under school age), and I've been careful to try to make sure they only have kind role models. This has resulted in typical mean language being absent from their vocabulary, such as "you're stupid/ugly/I hate you", but they've started inventing their own ways to be mean lol, such as "you're not my brother anymore, you're a stranger to me now", and hearing that out of a toddler's mouth is so cutting lol

Reading the design interviews for DMC4 is so funny to me 'cause Capcom really went "we need to make a thin-framed vaguely-Amish-vaguely-Catholic pretty boy but give him the rage of a thousand suns," and that was how they conceived Nero's design.

But if the version we got in DMC4 was their attempt at a middle ground between making him feminine but still masculine enough that Western audiences would view him as a boy, I'm very curious what the beta model of Nero would've looked like (beyond the purple outfit with the scarf of course, since we did get that as an alt outfit in 4).

Once you start noticing how the incapacity to handle discomfort affects how people live their lives it's actually pretty shocking how it ruins pretty much every conceivable aspect of existence. Interpersonal relationships, romantic and platonic. Career and education opportunities. Your politics Your willingness to go anywhere. The kind of food you eat. The kind of art you expose yourself to and your ability to read it. It's never just one thing, it touches everything, and once you notice it it's like suddenly being able to see germs or something. Just this horrific catastrophe people look at you askance for screaming about. As I grow older and see what became of my friends and peers who could not learn to handle discomfort, the more I'm like. This is a genuine societal issue
