Sodapop: “Come on Y/N,” Sodapop grabbed your hand, “I wanna show you something.” You frowned, “Soda, please. Nothing’s gonna make me feel better. I’m passing my class with a C all because of my lack of World War II knowledge.” Soda shrugged, “Maybe not..” he smiled, “But it’s gonna help!” You went along with him, still doubting whatever he wanted you to see would help the slightest bit. He reached for a box under his bed. “I want to show you what’s in this box!” Soda started pulling a bunch of papers out of it. “Sit down baby.” You sat beside him and pulled out what appeared to be a report card. Sodapop grinned, “This is ALL my homework. Everything. With it’s final grade. Plus the report cards! But you know, back when I was in school.” You looked through his abundant stack of paper with red marks on every sheet, “Why are you showing me all you old schoolwork?” He chuckled, “Cause I did awful! Look! I wasn’t passin’ anything.” You put the papers back in the box and pushed it away, “Soda.. you don’t have to show me this.” He sighed, “Well I figured it’d make you feel better. You ain’t stupid, Y/N. You’re far from stupid, I want you to know that. I mean just look at me! Y/N, you’re the smartest girl I know.” You found yourself smiling, “Thank you. But I don’t think you’re dumb at all. It’s just school.” He chuckled, “It is just school. How about you leave and we could run away together?” You laughed, “It might be just school but I don’t think I’m down with that.” “I know you’re not. So let me see your optimism. Tell yourself you can make it through the semester doll, I know you can.”
Dallas: “Woah!” he raised his hands, “What’s up? Why are you being so bitchy?” You groaned, “I’m sorry. Something happened.” Dally stood up, “Woah what? Did someone say something to you? Is it your parents?” You paused, “Uh..” He took of his jacket, “I knew it! It’s your parents! Man, just wait till they-“ “DALLAS” you interrupted, “It’s not my parents. It’s not people. It’s me.” He blinked, “Oh uh... what’s wrong with ya?” Dally sat down. You buried your hands in your face and sat beside him, “I didn’t pass my final.” He raised a brow, “That’s uh, that’s all?” You got up to leave, “Forget it.” Dally grabbed you before you had the chance to make it out the door, “Hold up!” You turned around and let him see your sad eyes. “Look,” he began, “I know I’m not good with this kinda thing but I can try. You’re smart, Y/N. Look at your grades before this one, you did alright. So this final won’t make a difference. And you ain’t just school smart, you’re street smart too. That’s how you scored me,” he smirked. You laughed. “My intelligence didn’t have anything to do with getting you Dal, you were easy,” you teased. He rolled his eyes, “Real cute. You gonna be alright?” You kissed him softly below the jaw, “With you, yes.”
Ponyboy: Pony waited outside your last class to walk you home like he did everyday. Only this time, you weren’t there to come out. You were curled up in ball with your face in your hands, behind the school building. Your crumpled up biology test was sitting right by your feet. Ponyboy came across you crying. “Y/N!” he sat down and wrapped his arm around your waist. “Y/N, what’s the matter?” You put your hands down, “I feel so stupid for crying.” You kicked away the crumpled up paper, only to have it roll toward Pony. He opened it up to see a big red ‘F’ at the top of it. “I-is this what’s bothering you?” You nodded, “I know it’s stupid. But I couldn’t fail this one… not again. But of course I do. I’m so dumb. Dumb dumb dumb.” He pulls your hands away from your face, “Hey baby. Don’t say that, don’t say you’re dumb. Don’t say anythin’ bad about yourself.” You sigh, “But it’s true. I can never make my parents happy. And I’m not as smart as you are!” He nods, “Look at me. You are very smart, it’s just that Mr. Reid makes it a joke. You’re capable of doing so much, Y/N. You gave me the best advice after Johnny died, Soda couldn’t even do it. Don’t let another bad grade get to ya.”
Johnny: “You’ve been quiet,” Johnny leaned against Dally’s car. “Even more quiet than I am around the gang. Is somethin’ the matter?” You nodded, “Something is the matter.” You pulled out a folded piece of paper and handed it to him. Johnny unfolded it to see two C’s on your report card. He looked up, “Two C’s? Oh Y/N.. I’m-“ You took it back, “It’s okay Johnny. I never had a shot at college anyway. I can continue living this way.” You tore the paper in half. “No!” you felt a tear slipping from your eye, “This is a disaster! I wanted to go to college.” He cupped your face in his hands, “Hey Y/N, look at me. You can still go to college. Two C’s are nothin’.” You shook your head, “No. They’re gonna be in my files forever. No good college is going to accept me.” He picked up your report card and tossed it away, “No, you’ve got talent baby. It takes a lot of knowledge to get into those honors classes. They might just accept you. I mean if not, you can always go to one here right? I know it ain’t the same but it’s something.” You wiped your tears away, “I guess. Can we go for a drive Johnny? I think It’ll help me feel better.” He smiled, “Dally will kill me if he finds out but for you I’ll do anything.”
Darry: “Oh God, Oh God Oh God..” you paced back and forth, clenching you hair. “Y/N it’d be great if you’d tell me what happened. I’m getting’ worried!” Darry said. You took out a folded piece of paper out of your pocket and threw it at him. He raised a brow at you, then picked it up. The paper revealed a large red ‘F’ on it. “STOP!” you knocked it out of his hand. “I know I failed my geometry test don’t do that!” Darry frowned, “I’m not doin’ anything..” You sighed, “Agh I know! I’m sorry I just.. agh I can’t have my final grade a C or lower I just don’t do that!” You sat on the floor. Darry knelt beside you. “Calm down baby. I can help you out. That one F doesn’t matter anyway look at all your other grades. I know you can pass the semester.” You removed a piece of your hair from your face, “I hope you’re right. I can’t afford a low grade.” He kissed you on the forehead, “I am right. I’ve seen you do incredible things. Bringing your grade up will be easy.”
Steve: “I suck at everything,” You opened the door to Steve’s place, not bothering to knock. “Hey! What happened darling?” he stood up. “I hate myself,” You ripped up your report card. “I can’t even make decent grades Steve!” He raised his hands, “No honey that is where you’re wrong. Sit down.” You did as he said, “The grades that aren’t C’s are below that. Why can’t I-“ He put his finger between your lips, cutting you off. “Don’t you dare say another bad thing about yourself. High school is just a little blimp in your timeline. It ain’t no big deal.” You groaned, “Oh but it is! I need to go to college.” He chuckled, “And you’ll get there. You’ve got a brain. Talent too. And beauty.. God you’re beautiful. You’re also smart in the way I am. Fierce. Sweet. Great sense of humor. God, Y/N you got everything. Don’t sweat it, you’ve always got next semester.” He picked up the remains of your report card, “Any college would be out of their mind not to want you there.” You gave him a slight smile, “I love how you see me that way.” Steve sat beside you again, “The whole world sees you how I do. I hope you realize that someday.”
Two-Bit: “You know,” Two began, “You’ve been dead silent today. Kind of like Ponyboy when he accidentally spilled paint all over Dally’s car. He kept his mouth shut TIGHT.” You shrugged, “I didn’t commit a crime or do something bad if that’s what you’re thinking.” He handed you a beer, “Then what’s up?” You stared at the drink, “Hmm. Maybe if I drink this whole thing… or three more I’ll forget about what happened.” He nudged you, “Come on. Answer the question Y/N. I promise we’ll get drunk later if you do.” You played with the cap, “I uh- I’m failing shop.” He raised a brow, “That’s it?” You nodded, “Yeah well.. the thing is I thought I was doing great. But according to Mr. Rendel I don’t know how to make a damn clock.” Two-Bit popped open the cap for you. “Well Mr. Rendel shits on everybody. I know you make a great clock. If you can make a great girl you can make a great clock,” he smiled. “Shop is for dopes, don’t even sweat it.” You laughed, “I guess you’re right. I’d still like to drink though.”
