—did she hear him right? Her eyes widened slightly as she listened to the words that left the green-haired male’s lips, though that little moment soon vanished as Hihara continued explaining.

…was it just her imagination or did her heart really drop a little at his last statement?

Not wanting to worry him again though, Kahoko simply smiled softly at him. “But I’ve always considered Hihara-senpai as a friend,” she said. That was obviously a lie though, given the fact that the male had somehow become someone close and precious to the young violinist with time passing by. “Never think otherwise, ne? Hihara-senpai is important to me, after all.” It was somehow embarrassing to say that out loud, but it was the truth, and despite the fact that she found herself blushing off her face again after admitting that to him, she didn’t regret it. Yet.

Eh..? Instantly heated up cheeks, that was bound to happen after a statement like that. Ofcourse the red haired girl was important to him as well, very important that was. But hearing her state what he actually meant to her made him rather.. flustered.

Finding it hard to process what the violinist just said, his eyes slowly widened. And instead of turning his head away, decided to lean in closer. "Is that really true, Hino-chan?" He had to hear it again, just one more time would be enough to make him grin from ear to ear. He had valued the violinist ever since they met after all. Even though he believed that that was only because she was his precious kouhai. But now he was completely caught off guard, and totally forot about the 'being ill' conversation earlier.

…and here she hoped that the other wouldn’t dig further. It seemed that Lady Fortuna wasn’t on her side this time. Inwardly debating whether and how to answer that, the red-haired girl didn’t even notice that her senpai had leaned closer until she found herself suddenly face to face with him, causing the all too familiar red hue to return to her visage as she stared at the trumpeter, her mouth slightly agape in surprise.

Their current position was no good - at least not in her opinion - and in order to quickly avoid the awkward silence between them, Kahoko lightly cleared her throat a bit in an attempt to focus her thoughts before she answered. “Well… i-it could be because you’re talking to someone you’re admiring a lot… or because you’re cherishing that person… or maybe even because you see them more than just a simple friend or something,” she replied

Yes, that sounded enough as an answer.

"Heee.. so that's what it is about." With widened eyes the trumpeter had carefully listened to the girl's story. Figuring that it would be best to pay attention to where he was going, he fixed his gaze on the exit of the mall once again. Slightly in a daze, the green haired male brought his index finger up to his chin to think about what Hino just said.

So someone you admire huh.. I do admire Hino-chan a lot because she always works hard but.. I also cherish her because she's my friend.. but I do cherish Yunoki a lot as well but that doesn't feel the same either.. So do I see Hino-chan like more than just a friend, like a best friend perhaps? I don't understand this feeling..

Letting his fingers trail through his green locks he continued to try to figure out what to do with these strange feelings, creating yet another awkward silence between the two of them.

"…eh?" That request caused her to blink, but given the fact that she trusted him more than enough to know that he wouldn’t play any kind of pranks on her, she finally nodded her head and closed her eyes, curious as to what the other was up to.

Ignoring his slightly increased heartbeat, the greenette mentally prepared himself for what he was going to do next. "Tadaaaa~!" The trumpeter exclaimed as a sign for the girl to open her eyes again, holding out the flower bouquet.

His reply sounded forced in her ears, and then the green-haired male quickly turned his head away again before she could even say anything else. Her expression dropped a little, replaced by a worried mien on her visage. That really wasn’t convincing her that he was alright…

Before she could even react, the awkward silence had returned once more as the two of them walked through the shopping center. The violinist was deep in her thoughts, wondering whether she had said or done something wrong. These thoughts were quickly dismissed though as she heard Hihara talking again. “…eh?”

Now that he mentioned that… was it a bad thing that she somehow only found herself being that nervous around him? Not all the times, but more like during the moments when neither of them is saying anything. Still, admitting that straight out loud would hurt his feelings, wouldn’t it? “Uhm, sometimes. And… depending on the circumstances,” she replied after a while, hoping that this would be enough as an answer.

"Depending on the circumstances..?" Repeating the violinist's words, it seemed like the girl knew more about it, or at least he hoped so. Those 'circumstances' were the reason he felt rather strange while spending time with her. If only she could help him clear all these thoughts in his head, he'd probably feel more comfortable around the red haired girl.

"These circumstances.. what are they?" Turning his head back towards his friend, he leaned in slightly. If he continued to walk like this he'd probably bump into someone soon, though at this moment he couldn't care less. These heated up cheeks, throbbing heart and constantly worried mind. If there was a way to get rid of them he'd like to find out about it as soon as possible.

—and now she certainly felt bad for making it seem as if he was bothering her. “W-Wait, it’s not your fault. I really was just startled and…” She could already feel her face heat up again as she forced herself to continue her sentence. “…I didn’t want to worry you, senpai…” Though it seemed as if she had done quite the opposite of that, actually.

There it was again, the slightly change in color of the girl's cheeks. Totally unaware that his cheeks were just as red, the worried feeling didn't leave his mind. "It's fine to worry me, Hino-chan.." keeping his tone low, serious, the greenette continued to look at the window on his right. His eyes widened as soon as he realized what he had just said. Trying to laugh it off, the trumpeter started rubbing the back of his head. "Ahh I was just thinking that if you let me worry about you, you really considered me as a friend.. or something like that."

Standing still before the red haired girl, he leaned in slightly. His gentle smile still present upon his features as he spoke up once again. "Ah, Hino-chan, can you close your eyes for a bit?"

"Konnichiwa."

Hello, I’m Tadase Hotori; welcome to the Royal Garden. This is where we gather on a day to day basis after school to organize school functions and assure every student at Seiyo Academy receives a satisfactory experience. The guardians, student body association, gather here and fill out paperwork, extract information from our peers, and discuss ways to help the environment here at Seiyo Academy! Last year, the five of us alone coordinated several festivals including the Sun, Spring, and Christmas festival.

"…H-Hihara-senpai?" Did she say something wrong?

"Ah gomen.." The greenette brushed his fingers through a lock of hair that was hanging on his forehead as he slightly turned his head to the side. "I was just worried that something would happen to you, that's why I acted like that. Gomen ne, Hino-chan."

Watching the green-haired trumpeter walking around with a flower bouquet with a curious expression, the young girl couldn’t help but wonder what her senpai was up to and for whom those flowers where—

Ah..! At the sight of the familiar violinist, the greenette quickly hid the flower bouquest behind his back. "Hino-chan~!" using his other hand to greet the girl with an energetic wave, the trumpeter started walking up to her.

Was there really no way to solve this misunderstanding as long as her face was red? “B-But I’m really fine, Hihara-senpai… honto ni…” she tried again, this time actually managed to remain calm, though her cheeks were still dusted with a soft red colour. Don’t ruin the chance of him bringing you home, Kaho.

His body started to shake lightly. Even though he'd like to bring her home for her own safety, she'd probably think that he was some sort of freak for pushing such an idea onto her. ".. Wakkata. But promise me that you'll call me if something happens."

"N-No, it’s fine— I was just surprised and…" Maybe playing it off as a fever would be easier? But that would only get the other even more worried, so she definitely would not do that. “I’m fine, really. Just… feeling a bit warm…?” She tried.
