sometimes i think about how i love the characters of the most famous virtual band in the world the gorillaz TM

russel, musical genius classically trained privately educated kind sweet thoughtful. magnet for misfortune from a young age. POSSESSED by demons ghosts crazy shit four year coma at a formative age gets out of that coma just to have his best friend and soulmate killed in a random senseless act of violence. said friend's spirit possesses him and can take over his body whenever. his own body is not his and on top of this he gets kidnapped by some british loser and forced to be in his british loser band and he just wants peace but he CANNOT catch a break ever. ever ever he is so sharp and he is a private man and he misses his ghost soulmate. he is wonderfully talented but cannot create anything without losing his nerve and his mind and his anxiety and paranoia just takes him over and he has to rely on others to care for him. everything can be and is a conspiracy. AND he makes roadkill automobile mashup taxidermy. finding new ways to give the dead new life. and he's bald.

2D, blue hair pronouns i love zombies i love keyboards i say weird inappropriate things at inopportune times i like chicks i'm a vegetarian i'm a buddhist i have 20 illegitimate children i'm damon albarn's rantsona i have the singing voice of an angel and the speaking voice of an abused balloon animal. they are a genius and an idiot. you can't even understand the type of shit they're on. what you could call their best friend hit them with a car and hit them out of a car permanently disfiguring them. they were not even twenty years old when this happened. they were a bright young innocent boy once and now they're somehow only a slightly duller young innocent boy in a forty year old's body. horrible things have happened to them but if it's not okay it's not the end. addicted to pills. this tall skinny balding autistic guy is getting super hot chicks and basically, you're fucking stupid. click here to see him do funny dances.

noodle from osaka japan, ultra mega uber mary sue ass backstory trained to be EVIL DEATH KILL CHILD WARRIOR can kill a man with this thumb but she just wants to play guitar and by god she will do it she will mail herself across the world to play guitar with three losers. she is ten years old and by the way the band wouldn't exist without her. she is the heart of the band and without her everybody falls into depression and disorder because she is the only thing keeping them together. the only way the band could exist without her is if she was literally evil robot cloned. yeah by the way she has an evil robot clone. she was dragged into hell and defeated a demon and rescued her shit ass adoptive dad #3 from prison. she is an orphan and one man only ever showed her kindness in her early days and he was supposed to kill her once she outlived her purpose. she had super amnesia. she has to fight every day to keep this dumb family she's found this little tiny fluctuating bit of peace and happiness and she loves music because music is what unites us and can unite the world. she must be the rock she must be the pillar of strength and serenity because if she doesn't then who else will? she wrote demon days.

murdoc is ... i don't think i could properly articulate my feeling about this character if i tried because i'm green199213 and it's just so big it's leaking out of my ears at all times and sometimes those droplets fall onto the computer screen and you get posts to this account

if i was a good writer i would be...doing something amazing with them i don't know. i just want more of them forever. gorillaz

I HAVE BEEN BURNED BAD.) and fandom crap idk if there's still dumb shit happening with the fandom (i assume there is cause it's gorillaz) is SO FUN. that's why i'm having fun. it's because i'm in my own silly lala world where i just ignore everything i don't like.

naturally i drew him quite a few times in my early gorillaz period (2016-2018) but you won't be seeing that

i am actually planning a digital painting of russel and del that will hopefully come to fruition at some point and be better than the paltry offerings i currently have. stay tuned... maybe.

that one image of him from phase four where he's stuck in 2D's piano and wearing pink high heels and that one drawing from phase five where he has a feather boa are the two closest things that are coming to mind and those are not really girly. i even went back and looked through a bunch of official art cause i was like "well there has to be some image that i'm remembering that triggered me to this interpretation of him" but there really isn't one.

one day i want to try and unravel my brain mass and write down why i think i arrived at this interpretation of murdoc (it's not one single thing) but i am somewhat worried that it would be too revealing on the way my brain works and possibly somewhat disturbing. maybe it wouldn't be and i'm just being paranoid (likely) but i'm glad i'm not the only one out there liking girly murdoc.

how is your murdoc different from the canon Murdoc?

for all intents and purposes they are the same character. i just separate them in my head because there are things i have come to believe and headcanon about him that i know are Not Intended and are Not Canon.

in general i draw him much girlier and project blue hair and pronouns onto him. i seem to do this often. it's just not a stretch in my mind to imagine him as nonbinary in some way. but i'm sure it is for others.

so they are not the same but also the same. it is all murdoc in the end. and we all love him.
