“If 97 people are fighting for the same dollar, they’re all in for a helluva fight. And if only 3 people are fighting for the million, they’re all in for a helluva life.”

The reason most will never get ahead and always seem to lack is because they’re stuck fighting 97% of the population for 2% of the pie. So in theory it would be easier to become a millionaire than earn $50K, simply because there’s less competition at the top.
