Okay well, he already knew that one, it's clear enough with how his life is going and how just about everyone says he is constantly, that he's remarkably stupid. But it never really sunk in until this. Maybe that's a little too late considering…everything, but it still feels significant in a way.
See, Kyle's always thought of himself as a pretty civilized person. So when last year out of…practically nowhere, he had to deal with the monitors and finding Ray Palmer with his revived ex-girlfriend and Batman's also revived son, he'd thought he would be able to keep himself collected enough to get the job done.
So maybe Jason pissed him off a lot. What about it? There are a lot of people who do that to Kyle, including Wally when they first met, Batman himself, Connor's dad when he was revived and decided Kyle personally offended him with his existence, honestly he could probably go on. Though in Kyle's humble defense he's usually provoked, and when Hal had become Parallax and Kyle became Green eveyone basically hated him for a good while.
Jason was different, maybe it was everything finally weighing down on him, Jade, Donna, Alex…his mother, everything with Ion…but something about Jason both intrigued and angered him constantly.
Kyle finally came to the conclusion of it all when he's on Oa as always, helping out with the corps again, as always, considering he's officially a part of their Honor Guard and all. But when he was alone at his new place on Oa, a few months into everything, he's suddenly struck with the realization.
Was he…into Jason? Like into him? Now, Kyle's no stranger to different sexualities and identities, his bestfriend is asexual, and his assistant at his old job on Earth, Terry, was gay. Kyle's also transgender himself- not that he tells anyone, but he's not new to this. But he just…hadn't expected himself to actually like men, had convinced himself he only liked women, considering how much he did like them.
Now however, he's second guessing himself. Is that what it was? Why he kept arguing with Jason, and why the man won't leave his mind even so long after everything with the multiverse bullshit and Bob. Stupid Bob.
Well, Kyle can work with that. He knows how to act on his feelings when they present themselves in this way. He knows how to flirt, he knows how to wriggle his way into things. Jason is…well he already can't stop thinking about the guy, and he'd like to stretch his legs and breathe the air he's familiar with.
Which is why of course, he's here, in Gotham. He's flying high above the ground and in the clouds so the green glow of his ring doesn't give himself away and he doesn't get caught by the Bat. It takes him a while to scan the area with both his eyes and ring, until he finds who he's looking for.
Kyle hovers lower so he's floating a bit behind Jason. He thinks for a moment before using his ring to make a construct of a cartoony looking hand to tap on the mans shoulder.
"Hey, big guy. How's it going?"
He says with a smile, a little nervous really. But he shouldn't be, he's got this. He's been able to get girls in the past, what's so different about this?
See, today was pretty normal. For Jason at least. He got up at a reasonable time and was doing his rounds, checking in on everyone and dealing with anyone who was making trouble which is pretty common in Crime Alley. He was jumping between buildings, continuing to make his way around Crime Alley when he felt like he was being watched.
It's not like Jason doesn't get the feeling much, heck, he wears a bright red helmet and is a known vigilante-crime lord so getting stared at isn't out of the ordinary for him. However, he can find the person, checking around him for signs of someone following him.
So, someone trained maybe? He's used to the bats following him but he can usually find them pretty easily. Maybe not Cass but there are signs most of the time. Bruce.. he just hopes it's not Bruce. He'd be able to spot Bruce if he was following him, right? He's been able to before, multiple times when the man thought he was hidden.
Just when his anxiety starts to peak Jason feels someone behind him first yet can't feel any of their footsteps on the roof he's perched on. The question is answered for him when someone taps him on the shoulder, his hand immediately going to swat it away while at the same time using the other to reach for his gun and point it at...
He says, almost speechless and catching himself when he's about to say the man's name. He's honestly so caught of guard that even through the modulator and helmet his shock is palpable. Well, that's not something you see every day, a green lantern in Gotham.
"What.. What are you doing here??"
Jason asks, slowing down his speech and making his voice more neutral though he just sounds confused right now. Why would Kyle even be here?? He hasn't seen the man since Jason left behind him, Donna, The Atom, Mary Marvel and the rest of the group behind. It wasn't exactly on the best of terms, with Donna calling him just some selfish prick or something like that.
Kyle.. was a whole other thing. He didn't necessarily mind the man, just found him annoying though back then that didn't take much. Flirting with Donna right in front of Jason definitely was enough. He didn't care despite what the man thought and just wanted to get the mission over with. Kyle clearly didn't share the sentiment and hated him during the whole trip which got pretty tiring about 2 universe later. That was just a weird time. He has no idea why the man is here unless he just decided to finally live out his fantasies and kill Jason.
