In the caverns, some of the drapping stalactites had back lighting, so this amazing translucent banding could be more visible 😱🧡

Something different, with a video below!! This is an organ that plays literal stalactites! Invented in 1954, that took 3 years to create, it electronically taps selected stalactites of specific tunes! I was so happy we were able to experience this, and was almost brought to tears because it was so cool.

The video is nothing like the actual experience, but still too cool not to share! Also people were told to be quiet but obviously some didn’t listen.

Behold: Titania's Veil (the white formation on the wall nearly centered in the photo)! It is striking pure-white calcite, and this drip formation grows only 1 cubic inch every 120-300 years!

A couple weeks ago, I visited the Luray Caverns in Virginia! This is the “Dream Lake” in the cavern, which is an optical illusion created by this body of water (the stalactites are reflected)!
