quick rant bc i feel little insane for some of the things i’ve been seeing on multiple platforms.

the term “puck bunny” is not something that should be “reclaimed.” with the rise of girls saying they’re reclaiming the term simply bc they watched off-campus is sooooo annoying bc 1. you’re not reclaiming it if you want to be exactly what it describes and 2. the girls calling themselves that now are not the one’s who are affected by the misogyny that the term perpetuates toward women who actually enjoy hockey. the off-campus girls don’t actually watch hockey, but the hot main lead told them on a talk show that the term wasn’t bad, so now they’re “identifying” with it bc they just want to have sex with guys who play hockey. they’re not offended by being called that bc it’s exactly what they are, which is fine, if you wanna fuck hockey players you’re free to do that. but the problem with hordes of women now “identifying” with this phrase is that then ALL women who even exist within the space of hockey are lumped into that category. the same thing happened when women doubled down on the “we just wanna see the guys kiss!” stereotype as a way to make hockey bros mad when heated rivalry came out. all that did was make people assume that ALL women only watch hockey bc of heated rivalry. why do we always have to reclaim or double down on negative stereotypes in order to try and gain respect or make a place for ourselves? whatever happened to getting mad when we feel disrespected or belittled?? i think some negative things should just stay as negatives…
