Sobble needs to be protected at all costs. Grookey has won my heart with that little face. And Scorbunny looks like a brat and I love him for it.

About the starters

Grookey’s various names have a common theme of music. Grookey is groove + monkey, Sarunori is saru (monkey) + nori (rhythm), Ouistempo is ouistiti (marmoset) + tempo, Chimpep is chimp + pep, Qiāoyīnhóu and Hāauyāmhàuh are both hit + sound + monkey. Taking this into consideration along with how it was introduced banging a stick on the ground, it may evolve into a drummer of some sort.

Sobble’s names also have a cohesive idea. Sob + bubble, mesomeso (sobbing) + chameleon, larme (tear) + chaméléon, memme (sissy) + chamäleon, close to tears, tearful eyes + lizard. Whatever path Sobble takes, it apparently has to do with crying and its emotions.

Scorbunny’s names are all basically rabbit + fire, but something to take into consideration is the rectangle on its nose evocative of a nasal strip- used to make it easier to breathe during heavy exertion. And one thing of note is that in Japanese, Hibani is not just hi (flame) + bunny, but a wordplay with hibana (spark). It exerts itself in a way that involves sparking and being on fire.

What we are dealing with here is a band. Sobble is the lead singer, Scorbunny is the guitarist, and Grookey is the drummer.
