“as long as you try, it’s alright.” Greg sighed, taking her hand in his. “The fact that you’re depressed doesn’t affect how I feel about you, I’m willing to be in a relationship with you.” He fidgeted and sighed again. “I have a friend who used to cut.” Greg bit his lip as it started trembling. “it really hurt me to see him so upset all the time, I cared so much about him.” He sighed. “I was so relieved when he lost the craft knife that he used, because at that moment he promised himself and me that he’d never do it again. And so he found other ways to deal with it.” Greg paused to steady his breathing. “He told me he’d take a really hot bath, or scratch his arms instead. He even went to the therapist to get help.”

Greg squeezed her hand gently as he inhaled and exhaled. “You don’t need to go to the therapist if you don’t want to. I’ll tell you the method that was best for him. What he’d do, was he’d get a tight rubber band around his wrist and pull it and let go when he had the urge to cut. it hurt but worked for him.” Greg pulled Eleanor into a side hug and let a very faint smile take over his features. “Of course.” he said. “There’s nothing wrong with you, you’re perfect to me.”
