Weeks ago, when I was first finding out about Hollow Knight, I fell in love with Hornet and every time hk rides the last stag I would stare at that back seat and think obviously, obviously it was only a matter of time before you got to ride somewhere with a friend and of COURSE surely said friend would be Hornet, right? Right??  So I had this conversation with a friend and my heart was crushed.  No fic as of yet, but here’s a self-indulgent painting.  

I meant to have Hornet look bored, but accidentally drew her eyes so she looked pissed, and now I think she just looks a little irritated?  Which is fair. Wouldn’t surprise me to learn she runs faster than the stag.

I thought it was interesting that both the Shade and the Collector were flat black silhouettes with white eyes, and that neither give SOUL when poked with a Nail. Maybe they’re both made of the same abyssal void-stuff? I liked to imagine the first time Collector put your Shade in a jar, they shared the connection of meeting a kindred creature. (Please send me hollow knight painting requests)
