What dont you like about arstotzka?

“You mean, aside from corrupt officials, opinions can get you killed, people are routinely arrested for little-to-no reason, torture is a government-sanctioned thing that happens daily, and almost every aspect of our lives is controlled and monitored to the point that even something like having some money in savings can get you put on watchlist or simply snatched out of your home?"

Do you miss your childhood?

“Suppose so. It was... more peaceful. Got to spend more time with my parents. Didn’t have to fight, or hurt anyone.......... Yes. I miss being a child.”

What is your favorite food?

“Tirit, definitely! It’s a kind of meal made by soaking stale bread in a broth made from offal. People get weird about offal. But mama made it very well! And it was so cheap, so we had that a lot.”

Do you enjoy your work?

“No. I hate my work. I hate protecting this country. The only good thing about this job is that I get to be a friendly face to the people just arriving.”

“Oh, it’s great. Love living in a police state where my every move is watched and evaluated. Love not being able to have opinions that don’t directly support the current government.”
