Key Information/Bio Greta was raised by her mother's parents after her mother passed away when she was five years old. Her father is a muggle and he didn't know how to deal with the loss of his wife while raising a kid, especially a magical one, so he thought it was better to let her move in with her grandparents. He was 25, too young to handle the responsibility of raising his daughter the right way. She sees her father at important holidays and birthdays, but she is much closer to her grandparents. Her grandmother is the person she got her love of experimenting in the kitchen from, they spent hours cooking and baking or trying new recipes, both the muggle and the magical way. Greta is an only child, but she's always wished to have siblings, so when she met Alara in first year she found the sister she had always wanted. Greta has attachment issues when it comes to relationships, falling fast and hard and ending things just as swiftly when it got too serious. She claims that she has no abandonment issues, but simply wants to live life to the fullest and enjoy herself while she is young. Her parents were twenty years old when they had her and she had been determined to choose a different course. Her proudest accomplishment is her recently released cookbook 'Charm your own cheese'.

"I didn't disappear," Sirius laughed, a lazy drag from his cigarrette before he blew the smoke away from them. "I was just busy." Everything had gotten a bit much lately; everyone annoying him and pressuring him - every word felt stifling. So he took some time to himself, a few notes left to his close friends before he took the bike and left, enjoying the solitude. "Y'know if you missed me you can just say that," he teased quietly, as though it were a secret.

"And now you're less busy?" She raised an eyebrow with a teasing smile, looking over at her friend. Greta hadn't seen Sirius in a while so she was glad to see him looking well. "I'm not too proud to say that I did miss you. I've got no shame telling my friends I care about them." She showed it with her actions as well, but life was short, you never knew.

“Oi, Grets!” Marlene’s voice rang lightly across the aisle, her grin blooming as she turned a corner and spotted her friend. “Fancy seeing your name plastered on the shelves. I’m almost impressed.” She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear and made her way over, holding a copy of Greta’s newest book with mock reverence. “Do I get a signature, or is that reserved for Ministry types and secret admirers?”

There was genuine warmth in her tone, the kind she rarely let shine these days. Greta was one of the few people who didn’t prod too deep, didn’t ask questions she didn’t want to answer. That made her easy to be around. Safe. Marlene turned the book over in her hands, then added, “Bet you thought I wouldn’t notice this hit the stands. But here I am. Dedicated fangirl and everything.” She winked. “You owe me lunch for moral support.”

She grinned back at Marlene, unable not to. Her book was her greatest accomplishment she had put blood sweat and tears into it and it was something she was genuinely proud of. It mattered to her what people thought about it. It was so much more than a cookbook or a book filled with recipes. At least to her. "Stop it you're making me blush. An almost impressed from you is a raving review." Greta laughed, pretending to pause to think about Marlene's question. "I think I'll be able to make an exception for an old friend."

To her, her friends were like family. Their support meant a lot. "Treating my most dedicated fan to lunch is the least I can do." Greta chuckled, shaking her head in amusement. "Come on, I'm starving."

For his sins, Rabastan's mother had dragged him to a socialite event. He was a dutiful son. So as much as the prospect of a cheese & wine taster made him want to pull his eyes from their sockets, he did not refuse, and he cursed his father for not accompanying her as was his duty. So here he was, enduring the evening and making tediously polite chatter with his mother's friends. All the while, he thought of the better things he could be doing. But it wasn't all bad. He did enjoy snacks - particularly finer ones - so he resigned himself to his fate and began to enjoy it. He reasoned it was only for a few hours, then he would be back at home with the rest of the night to attend to other matters.

Having filled a plate with more cheese than he required, he stood beside his mother and reached for the wine. As he turned, he observed the younger witch beside him. She was familiar. Then it came to him.

"You're the girl who's writing the book about cheese." It amused him. So he smiled and offered her a glass of the wine. "Gertrude- no, Greta, isn't it?"

Her publisher had come to her with an idea recently, something to promote the book and bring some traction to the Florish & Blotts at the same time by hosting a cheese and wine night, combining the cheese with the suitable wines she described in the book. It was meant to be more of an upscale affair, geared towards socialites and the upper class. Greta didn't feel like she herself belonged to those types of people, but she had been told that she needed to broaden her horizons and test her book with a different kind of audience as well.

"Gertrude?!" Her eyebrose rose up comically, shaking her head in amusement. "Greta. Yes. And I've already finished my book. The cheeses selected for tonight have all come recommended by me, so I do hope you like them."

Her arms wrapped around Greta, happy to have the witch by her side on such a special occasion. "Aw, thank you for coming by, Grets! She told her, making sure to grab a glass for her friend, handing it over with a wide smile on her lips. "Can you believe it? I'm twenty-four, so bloody old."

"I wouldn't miss it!" Greta had promised that she would be here and she always tried her very best to keep her word and be present for her friends. She knew this birthday could be difficult for Marlene so she wanted her to know how loved she was. "Wow, you're practically ancient." She teased.

He'd been a bit nervous about coming over initially, not sure how things would flow between them when they were alone in her flat. They'd spent time together over the years since their breakup but never like this. However, all worries had been washed away now and he felt like he could actually enjoy himself for the night being. "We should do it more often." Peter offered with a gentle smile, taking a sip of his wine and savouring it. "The wine's actually really good, don't know if it's the best for our rock star, what do you think Miss Catchlove? You're the expert here."

Looking at him now and how kind he was being, making sure she didn't feel lonely by spending time with her and bringing over her favorite things, it was hard for her to remember why she ended things in the first place. They'd been very young back then of course. And things were different now. Times changed. People changed. "Yeah, I'd like that." A smile on her lips, mirroring his. They had remained friends the way people in the same friend group after a break up had to, but she felt like enough time had past for their friendship to be more genuine. She took a sip from the wine, then a bite of the cheese. "I think the wine's delicious, but a tad too sweet. While it brings out the nuttyness of the cheese it overpowers the softer notes. It would good paired with a cheesy dessert, something sweet that complements each other."

"So, you were saying about your day?" Sybill asked as she shuffled the cards. It had been awhile since she had done some readings to strangers that were not under the drinking age or who's height stood beneath her waist. It was easy to read teenagers: tell them about a bad grade and they know which class, tell them about a crush and they will get excited. Everyone else was harder. Sybill swallowed back some words as the cards began to reveal a good mix of positives and negatives. "The cards don't lie I'm afraid," she grimaced but remained hopeful. "I wouldn't answer to a man who asks you a question tomorrow...or any day, but that's just me. Let's see what the next one says, hopefully something better."

"A man? Any man? Or a specific one, Syb?" It was a broad answer and Greta hoped that her friend would be able to narrow it down, at least a little bit. As not answering any questions she got asked by any man for an entire day might prove to be a bit... well impossible. "You're right. Hopefully the next one's better. Tell me, what does my future hold?"

A bright smile lit up Alara’s face the moment she spotted Greta. She offered a quick, apologetic smile to the person beside her before turning her full attention to her friend. "You! I was just thinking about you. Are you free this weekend?"

"You found me!" She smiled at her friend, pausing to think so she could answer the question. Nothing came up in her mind, her schedule empty as far as she knew. "Yeah I am, why?"

The bar was already buzzing, the air thick with the scent of butterbeer and something stronger. Marlene was perched on a stool, a glass of firewhisky in hand, her laughter echoing across the pub. Her blonde hair shone under the warm light and her blue eyes sparkled with mischief. "Another round!" she yelled, waving her glass. "To me! It's my birthday!" She threw her head back, the sound bright and carefree. "Twenty three, wait. It's actually twenty four." The witch said as she raised three fingers up, then four, a smile on her lips as she passed a full glass of firewhisky to the person beside her.

"Happy birthday!" She grinned happily, clearly having had one too many glasses of firewhiskey herself already as she threw her arms around Marlene in a hug. Good occasions were few and far in between, she believed that they deserved extra celebrating. Plus she knew how hard things had been for Marlene since her family got killed, she wanted to be here for her friend. Support and celebrate her.

where: diagon alley who: open Alara hadn’t meant to rush,technically, she had the afternoon off,but a part of her always felt better staying close to the bakery, anchored by the comfort of familiar places. She was just stepping out of Flourish and Blotts, a stack of books in her arms, when she collided with someone heading in. “Sorry about that,” she said quickly, steadying herself. It took her a second before she looked up to see who it was.

Greta was meant to go pick up some books as she had finished the ones she had been reading last month, she had spotted Alara before her friend spotted her but she hadn't been quick enough to dodge. She let out a laugh. "All good. Don't worry."

His eyes found hers at the question, a smile growing on his lips as he saw her, clearly more relaxed than she'd looked when he first came over. "Of course I've read it, made me fall in love with cheese all over again." Peter said jokingly, though offering a genuine compliment. "It's really good, Grets, I'm proud of you." The wizard took the glass and raised it to clink it with hers, taking a larger sip than he'd intended and chuckling as he put it down. "Drunk and good company." He echoed as he parted the cheese and handed her a piece. "I like spending time with you, you know?"

Her smile widened, clearly happy that he had liked her book. That meant a lot to her and she was extremely touched that he had read it. She had put many years of work into this book, researching history to help people understand her fascination with cheese and perhaps become more curious about it as well. It was truly so versatile. "Thank you." She clicked her glass with his, a blush on her face when he complimented her book again. "I like spending time with you too." Moments like this were nice, it's been a while since they spent some time together.

"Very sure," Fabian confirmed once more. It was nice of the woman that she wanted to help out. In the end... He was too dependent on himself unless he could gain something out of this beneficial to him or the Order.

"I think the people going to this bakery will settle for edible as well. I mean... Unfortunately, we are not as good at all of this as the original owner." It made him curious if Alara was deciding on returning to this place or not. He understood that the Selwyn had enough to think about, but this wasn't exactly fair to Greta either. Thoughts he thought better not to voice out loud.

He listened to the woman who confessed not being good at being alone. "What is it that makes it hard? Being alone, I mean."

"Well if you change your mind do let me know. I'd love to help you out if I could, since you're doing me such a big favor." Greta knew he could just be a nice guy and help her out for the sake of it, she helped people all the time without expecting anything in return, but still she thought it should be said that he could count on her if he needed to.

"She has a gift. I'm better at the theoretical side of it, I like coming up with recipes and testing and perfecting them." She'd been good at potions at school, but baking was different to potions and different to cooking. Especially when it was professional desserts.

"I don't know if it's one thing necessarily or accumulation of things. I've lost my mother when I was a child and my dad was too young to properly take care of me, so he sent me off to live with my grandparents. He's not the best at keeping in touch." She shrugged softly. He had been overwhelmed with raising a magical kid by himself. "I'm an only child and my cousins lived far away so I didn't see them often. My grandparents were great of course and they never made me feel lonely, but since they passed a couple years ago I've been living with Alara. This is the first time I'm living alone and i guess I just feel lonely?"

"Alright alright, I'll take it then." He said in acceptance after her explanation, a simple grin plastered on his lips as he glanced at her, holding her close to him for a moment too long before letting go. "Ah yes, the rock star cheese, bold, flavourful and ready to steal the show." Peter joked as he wiggled his eyebrows, making his best effort to get her to feel better. "Does it go well with the wine I got? I hope so, I let this funny little wizard help me pick it. If not, I'll guess we'll just have to get drunk enough not to mind, right?"

"Good." She smiled back at him, before a laugh left her lips at his explanation of cheddar. It was a good way to describe it, she'd used similar words before. "Have you read my book?" Greta hoped he did, she wanted to hear his thoughts, his opinion on it. "I am more of a cheese expert than a wine expert, but why don't we give it a try and find out?" Lifiting her wand she accioed two glasses to the table, carefully setting them down before the wine started pouring into the glasses, raising hers towards him with a smile. "Cheers...to getting drunk. In good company."

"No need for favours." Yes, they could come in handy for the future but there were certain people that he wanted them with. Greta was not one of them, and that was meant as a compliment towards her.

"In that case I would say... You go for the muggle made desserts to make, and I go for the recipies that are easiest to make. You know... For maximum positive results of our baking?" Or maybe at least a part of it would be possible to succeed? He had no idea, he was just spitballing some ideas there.

"Have you heard anything from Alara?"

"Are you sure?" She bit her lip, hesitantly. Greta was grateful for his help, anything beat being alone and he was good company, he had this sort of calming presence around him. This quiet certainty.

"I suppose that would be wise. Perhaps we're better of not decorating them, I'm really bad at making it look cute. I'm better at making it taste good. You know, I would settle with edible. That's enough for me." She admitted with a chuckle. Aim low, reach high, right?

"I have. She's been staying with Sirius. So I've had the apartment to myself a lot. I mean, it's great that she's safe, I'm glad about that, it's just- I'm not good at being alone, I guess."

It shouldn't have to be this way, he thought, having been pushed into a world that didn't feel right. Some of them enrolled to fight a war that didn't seem to be ending any time soon, the rest of them equally scared for what would come out of all of it, so far having no real good news. Peter could only imagine what it felt like to her, her roommate walking out one day and having to get used to living by herself. Not that Greta wasn't strong or couldn't handle herself, it just seemed wrong that she had to face it all alone. "You don't have to thank me, ever. I want to be here for you." The wizard told her, his eyes meeting hers and feeling a warmth washing over his chest, he cared for her even if he'd been hurt by her decision to walk away from their relationship back in school. He reached out to grab her hand, squeezing lightly before pulling her towards him and embracing her, a smile forming on his lips. "What do you say we get down to eating all these cheese you like so much?"

"I think thanking people and showing you appreciate them is important." She didn't want something to happen to her or her friends and then them not knowing how much she cared about them. Life was short, it could end at any moment, living with things left unsaid was too risky in her mind. Besides, nothing bad came from thanking people, even if some might say she had a habit of doing it too much. Greta calmed down in his arms, feeling more at ease than before. He was a good hugger. "i vote starting with the cheddar."

"The bakery reminds me of it all. I know it's my own. What I worked hard for, but I need some time to process and being there is a reminder." She wanted to be with Greta, they were two peas in a pod. "I just need a little time." Alara hoped her friend would understand. A smile forms on her lips. "That is good news." A pause. "I'll be there in the morning to bake everything."

"Maybe you need to start something new then?" She didn't want her friend suffering or being uncomfortable, it was alright for dreams to change, they didn't have to look the same at all times.

When Peter had come over, it was always his intention to be there for her, support her and keep her company. It couldn't be easy on her going from sharing the flat with a friend to being left behind and all alone, he knew Greta all too well to know she wasn't having a good time. Her words took him aback though, things were worse than he'd pictured, shifting his gaze so he'd be staring at her, a softness in his eyes. "It's okay to be scared, everything's a bit scary nowadays." The wizard conceded with a light shrug of his shoulders, then taking closer steps to the witch, reaching out to hold her hand, his thumb running lazy circles on her palm. "You got me, alright? You can call me whenever and I'll be here. I'll take the couch and keep you company, make sure you're safe so you can sleep, Grets. You got me."

Greta didn't know what she would do without Peter in her life, everyone of her friends meant the world to her, but she knew that with him, she had someone that supported her. Even when she hadn't asked for help he came and was here, by her side, trying to make her feel better. "I wish it wasn't." She knew she wasn't the only one afraid of the war going on, but she didn't know what to do about it. Greta wasn't an auror or a hitwitch or something of the sort, she felt helpless. His presence so close to her was calming, she felt like she was finally able to breathe. "Thank you." She locked eyes with him, needing him to know how much it meant to her, how grateful she was for his friendship.
