Hello! I’m Grey (she/her) and I’m Grey_Lark over on AO3.

When are you updating? My current update schedule is every other Monday. However, life being what it is I sometimes miss that (a bit more in recent months too, whoops). I’ll update here if a chapter will be late or not.

I’m currently in an unintentional hiatus until things calm down in my real world life. But this is the schedule once I’m back in the swing of things

Okay, so you said this chapter was going to be late – when is it really coming out? Wish I had a good answer for you, but if I’m late on a chapter, chances are things have already spiraled a bit. Safe bet is that it will be posted a week late, and the schedule will adjust to reflect that. (If a chapter is posted a week late, the next will be in two weeks, not one.)

Is Jackrabbit going to be Harringrove/Stoncy/Steddie? Probably not. When I first started writing, I didn’t expect to focus on romance at all, but exploring his relationship with Nancy and his sexuality became important to his character growth. At the moment there is no endgame romance planned, and I mostly write what feels natural at the time. Which, I can admit, is a little bit indecisive and sort of turns Steve into that Community quote: “It’s called chemistry – I have it with everybody.”

Is Jackrabbit going to be S4 compliant? Short answer: No. Longer answer: I started writing this thinking I would be done well before S4 came out (insert slightly manic laughter), so I already had a plot planned that didn’t incorporate S4. There are a few plot points and character traits I decided to bring in after watching, but overall this story is a complete canon divergence from the last episode of S3.

 So . . . Eddie in Jackrabbit? Yes? No? Ah, Eddie. I have a couple of options in my head as to how to get him to cameo in JU, but unfortunately given that we’re towards the end of the story now I don’t see him becoming a major character. I do have two Steddie oneshots though – ‘Not Jealous . . . Just Concerned’ and ‘Blame it On Me’. Though both are pretty short and written/posted while drunk. So. Buyer beware.

How much longer is Jackrabbit going to be? *Helpless shrugging motion*

Can I create fanart/write something inspired by your work? Yes!! Please do! I absolutely adore seeing any works inspired by this – it’s such a huge compliment!

I think I've said this before but getting too into a media that takes place in the past wild, because your references for time start to become a little fucked up. Like, wow, this character has probably seen Grease in theaters but has never tasted Cool Ranch Doritos. And I think that says something about them.

so. um. I think something happened to my save. I had at least half of chapter 2 written, so guess whose going on a backwards save exploration!

I managed to recover most of what I had written of chapter 2 from a goggle doc and downloaded chapter 1 from ao3. I'm still missing things, but at least everything wasn't reduced to something my cat sat on (I'm guessing)

So sometimes you find a medicine and dosage that works great for your mental health and you get an idea for a story you're really excited about and you get back into writing. But then you start feeling like shit and your migraines start acting up so you go to your doctor and they legit say 'oh my god' when they see your vitals. Cause it turns out that medicine made you SUPER tachycardic which led to high blood pressure and also resulted in your migraines being a MAJOR problem.

Any who, I got medically diagnosed with 'calm the fuck down' and now have a prescription just to lower my heart rate.

Also unfortunately my blood work was weird for more reasons than that and I'm now going through a whole thing. I've realized anytime I hear 'ohmygod' outside the room it's probably about me.

For Heard You on the Radio I'm running on the assumption that new music didn't really reach Hawkins after the Upside Down opened and do you know how mad I am that Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet came out after that time frame? I know in my heart of hearts that Steve would have loved that album

okay now that st5 is over, I can say with certainty that the best battle sequence is not within the canon, but instead, in my favourite fic of all time

Something I waffled A LOT about in Radio was how Steve responded to the women on the first night who were into him but still had a level of joking. Originally I had him say "Waiting for a pretty girl like you to call, of course" which probably would have been fine, but the more I thought about it the more sleazy it seemed rather than as a cute response to the tone of the moment that he was picking up on

The graveyard shift at WSQK isn't all that bad, Steve just wishes the equipment would stop deciding that his shift is the perfect time to start freaking out. He's got enough going on without trying to bullshit through a late night talk show to fill time - he especially doesn't need to start thinking he's maybe hearing a voice in the static.

soooo, heated rivalry amirite? 👀👀

I haven't actually seen it yet! I feel like I turned around and a whole fandom had sprouted fully formed like Athena lol I do need to check it out though, if nothing else a venue I go to a lot is having not one, but two, heated rivalry nights where they're playing queer anthems and even showing AMVs to dance to. It sounds amazing even though I'm not in the fandom (yet)

my new favorite ST au is el being found + raised by stobin. here are some facts about this world.

steve has Comically Absent Fanfic Parents which is how he gets away with adopting a feral little lab child BUT! his parents also love him and are kind of weirdos so when they return he is able to talk them into just telling people they adopted a sad little orphan girl because it gives them christian clout. they treat it like steve just brought in a stray dog they're like okayyyy but you're responsible for feeding her and taking her for walks! anyway his parents are rich and connected enough to get somebody to draw up paperwork and bam now elizabeth harrington exists.

robin comes up with such an insane backstory for her she's like okay i'm thinking she was an affair child and her mother hid her in the basement all her life because her father was a mafia boss and— and steve is like literally nobody will ever believe that. and robin's like NO they WILL because it's so melodramatic why would we make it up!!

el thinks march madness is a holiday like thanksgiving or new years because for march madness they watch basketball and for thanksgiving they watch the parade and for new years they watch dick clark. but because march madness is a whole month and the others are just one day she thinks march madness is the most important holiday.

she draws on every pair of shoes she owns because she wants to copy robin and doesn't understand the cultural norm of only doing that with converse. the first time steve sees her brand new nikes covered in sharpie doodles he's like what the hell?? and el's like 🥺 was i bad... and he's immediately like NOOOO no i meant like uhhhh what the hell these drawings are so good!! and el is like 🤨 and steve has to really double down to convince her he's not upset which is how he ends up with three little stick figures holding hands on the side of his favorite nikes (they were his least favorite when he gave them to her to draw on).

el is still besties with the party and they teach her that friends don't lie but robin also teaches her that lying to authority figures like cops is fine. so el just constantly lies to her buddy will's stepdad about literally anything. hopper will be like how are you kids doing? and el's like i have a math test tomorrow. and then she engages in a whole conversation with hopper about a fictional math test she's like i am nervous. about the algebra. (she's still homeschooling with robin to catch up to her grade level there is no test and el barely knows what algebra is)

steve is getting help and guidance from hopper and joyce this whole time so hopper usually knows that el is lying to him but he thinks it's really cute and funny so he just goes with it. when el is older she realizes this and is a little embarrassed but mostly touched that hopper was letting her do improv at him.

el goes to steve and robin and she's like um. i like mike. is that. okay? and they're like yeah honey why wouldn't it be okay? and she's like well he's a boy... and steve and robin are like oh my god we taught her internalized heterophobia. oh shit oh my god we invented new bigotry and taught it to our sweet baby.

If the writers weren't glaringly racist, I’m just thinking about how it would’ve made so much more sense for Erica to have Holly’s plot.

We've known her since season 2 and would have been far more invested in her than in Holly, who we knew nothing about going into season 5. They wouldn't have had to retcon her age *cough*, as she would have been around 12 years old in '87, same as Will when he was taken. She would have had a future-sister-in-law dynamic with Max in Camazotz. She could have relayed so much information to Max about what's been going on while she was gone. We could have seen her nerd out about A Wrinkle in Time and science (which is canonically her favourite subject). We could have seen actual depth added to her character and given an active, emotional storyline to Lucas, who would have been hellbent on finding her. It would have been so satisfying to see that dynamic since we're used to them bickering all the time; a real true-to-life example of the complexities of sibling love. It could have been so, so good.

TBH I haven’t watched anything since part 1 yet. I might watch this weekend but I’m also a couple thousand words and a playlist into a post S4 pre S5 story and I don’t know if I want to potentially ruin that by trying to incorporate any later season info. Or have it be like S4 part 2 where it kicked me out of my hyperfixation
