Why did we stop talking about the slave trade in Libya?
Or the girls in DC? Or Flint? Or NDAPL?
Or Sandra Bland?

One day soon I'll see the real thing, but for now I'll take this...
When the night calls...
Faith
Just when you thought it was over! Here you are again, thinking about the what ifs. Thinking if only... Nd and then you remember why you moved on from that way of thinking in the first place. Yes. I get weak. We all do. It happens. But I know that even through these weak moments that I will be fine. I have faith. More than I have ever had before. And I don't know if that is naiive of me or not, but I know that's how I endure and how I have gotten this far. I just believe everything works it self out. Like a splinter to flesh...

How To Care...
“Well, I care I know you don't care too much But I still care, la la la la la, la la la la la la” - Beyonce This song came to mind almost instantaneously this morning during a conversation with my mom. When it seems that I care more about a person's well being than they do themselves. Why is that? Why do I concern myself with someone else's stress. How do I even find the time? Because I love a person? Because I care for them? It has to be more than this. It's almost innate sometimes how I chyme in, when I am almost certain they know they are doing wrong. I could be assuming that they know, but then again I couldn't. Where do I draw the line? How do I "fallback" when that loved one is supposed to be sticking to a diet for physical health reasons, or supposed to be following a budget for financial betterment? How serious does it have to get for a person to realize that they keep making mistakes that will cost them their life? "Their life"... See at some point I tell myself its their life, don't I have my own business to attend to? Chill and let them live. But when you deal with family and close friends (whom might as well be family), "their life" coincides with "my life" and for the love of me I would hate to see something happen to them because I "fellback". But where do I draw the line and feel okay with staying on the other side? Sometimes I ask myself is this really about them, or is it about me feeling okay about them? Based on what I learned from life thus far its definitely a little bit of both, let's be honest. Sue me. Either way I'll still be over here trying to figure out how to care and when to "do" it...

[ 06042016 ] • Rest in Power - Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali wasn’t just an athlete or entertainer. He was himself in all forms – even when the world tried to tell him how he should be. His legacy showed me you can reach levels of excellence and still care about your community, with his biggest fights/challenges coming outside of the ring.
I’m forever inspired.
Thank you.
