Ngl the flashback sequence here is one of my favorites. Very inspired by the hollow, empty feeling of Madame Suliman’s greenhouse from Howl’s Moving Castle.

I don’t know if you noticed but I like the double edged sword of nostalgia. Beautiful memories become greater than reality. But horrors get amplified the same way.

Gotta love contrast. Like going on vacation to the Grand Canyon and tripping over a ledge.

Around the Rings in 33 Days

If men were meant to fly, they would have their own flight bladders.

Minerva is a young girl living her boring normal life on a island, drifting through Saturn's terraformed middle atmosphere. She spends her days popping hydrogen-filled barnacles off fans and replacing ratmora-infested air bladders. She wishes, oh she wishes for a little adventure.

So when a skyship collides into her roof during evening lessons, she sure gets exactly that.

The ship is piloted by two girls Minerva's age, Juno and Dia, who promptly kidnap Minerva and drag her into a race 33 days around Saturn. Multiple parties are attempting to capture a long-lost asteroid sunken into the Hydrogen Sea, one made of pure gold. Pirates, Mutants, Corporate Plutonians, and even an awakened AI are all trying to secure the vast wealth the asteroid holds.

Can three teenaged girls snatch away the treasure before anyone else?

I wrote this for Royal Road’s June 2025 contest. I had worked on this setting a while back (I think before I started Woven in Blood?), but never really had a story that clicked with what I made.

So I uh. Just stomped on the accelerator and went with the the schlockiest raygun fantasy that ever pew pew pewed.

This is gonna be wierd, but like, people tend to respond the most to the works I think the least about lol.
