HEADCANON; father

Let’s talk about Ash’s unnamed father.

Ash’s father came to Pallet Town for assistance from Professor Oak about a temperamental Tangela he had recently caught. He meets Delia when he goes to eat at Pallet House after it was recommended to him by Oak.

Once he and Delia become a couple, he started calling her “Flower”. He was actually an alright boyfriend, even if he was more. . .physical in his affection and mindset. Their relationship lasted roughly 5 months.

When Delia finds out that she is pregnant, he initially sticks around to help raise their baby. However, he changes his mind after a few weeks, deciding that he didn’t want to be a father and knowing that Delia would want to keep the baby, he decided to leave and never come back.

Before and after the baby is born, Delia made several attempts to contact him, but he never gave her a response. As far as he knows, he has a son named Ash.

As well as not being a good father, he is a bad trainer too. He hasn’t won a single gym badge or tournament, which he believes his Pokémon are at fault. It’s actually due to his bad training and battle skill. He isn’t too kind with them either. He currently is on “break” from his journey.

The last time Delia saw Ash’s father, he was 18 years old and stood at 5′5″.

“I, uhh, don’t have a Litten, anon.” Ash quipped an eyebrow. “I did want to catch a Litten, but she ended up becoming Skye’s Pokémon.”

“Oh yeah! I’m here to get stuff for dinner tonight-!” He slapped his palm into his forehead. “Man, Professor Kukui will get mad if I don’t come back home with everything…mind if I do the shopping while we talk?”

He lifted his hand, showing his own Z-Ring, with an Electrium Z set in place. “I’m going to Ula’ula Island next. I’m taking a little break doing trials right now, though. Something came up, eh heh.”

Yo, we did! I guess it’s different for the time o’ day?

“Sure! So you’re staying with the Professor here, huh?” He’d only met him briefly, when he got his Litten.

His eyes widened at the sight of the Z-ring. “Whoa, so you’ve got a Z-crystal, huh?” If it was yellow, that was most likely the one for Electric-types. “Awesome…”

He blinked, tilting his head. “Something came up? Whaddya mean?”

▼;Must be! Me and Ash went during the day and we got Gumshoos- but when Skye and my Mom went during the night, they got Raticate too.;▼ Maybe the Totem Pokémon take turns? Constantly battling against trial-goers must be exhausting. . .

Ash nodded his thanks before heading into the mall, heading for the supermarket. “Yeah! He was nice enough to let me stay with him, as long as I help do chores and stuff.

Uhh, it’s a long story, but I guess we’ve got time.” And he guessed that Ritchie would understand his situation, considering what happened the last time they saw each other.

“Me and my boyfriend ki~nda had this dream were we promised Solgaleo and Lunala that we’d take care of their baby. . .and then, we found the baby. . .”

He’s saying he has a star baby now, Ritchie.

“Well…”  Ritchie scratched the back of his head sheepishly. “The friend I’m traveling with…she’s a big fan of yours! Let’s just say she has a way of knowing what you’re up to.”

"Oh wow, you’re right. . .it’s been like, 6 years?” Ash was taken aback by how long they had last seen each other. “Jeez, time sure flew by, didn’t it? We probably have a lot to catch up on.

What brings you to Alola anyway? You here to do the island challenge?” He asked, looking for a Z-Ring or an amulet.

Pikachu’s tail wagged. ▼;It’s been too long! You been in any good battles lately?;▼

“Uhh, alright?” That sounded. . .a little weird. After what had happened in Kalos and the league, he did gain a fair amount of media attention. But, that had all died off by now, right? Maybe not. . .

But, at least he’s got a fan! That was an ego booster, for sure.

“Ash!” He hadn’t seen him in forever! He ran up to him. “I did hear you’d be here–how’ve ya been?”

“Man, it’s been years-!” Ash smiled broadly as his old friend approached. “I’ve been doing great! Same goes for Pikachu! How about you guys?”

“Pika!” Pikachu waved excitedly at Sparky, happy to see his fellow mouse.

“And what do you mean, ‘you heard I’d be here’?” Ash quipped an eyebrow.
