Deep in her bones and into the cervices of her joints, she was exhausted from running and dodging and evading dangers and all of its profound glory in whisking everything up into distruction. The rain collapsing from the sky didnât help in navigating through a waterfall raining down her forehead. With Mighty clutched in her arms, even he had a hard time keeping the rain on of him, attempting to shake. In a haste, she sternly told Mighty to stop because if she were to panic is fear now, sheâd not only lose her life, but Mightyâs life as well. She couldnât afford to lose him after losing Finn. The stream of water at her feet trickled downhill. Aimlessly, she was just trying to get away from the chaos and mayhem the store stirred up. The path lead her to oversee a cliff with a majestic mess curating in the sky. Thunder dropped its bomb and lightening crashed down to electrify the vast waters. Startled from the sudden sound, she slipped and fell down the high sided cliff. In the midst of trying to save herself, she lost Mighty. Her hands clawed at the debris and falling rocks, finally her hand catching a tree stump. Looking up to try to see how far she fell, a film of crimson shaded her vision, then looked down. She wasnât far from the ground, even attempting to carefully climb the rest of the way down. Her cautious stepping proved successful when she found footing on the ground. She collapsed on the ground, with her rocks impaling her back and her face embracing the pouring rain. Breathes of air become liquid gold as she tried to calm her the rise and fall of her trembling expires. Now was no time to lie down and accept her fate. She needed to get up and look for Mighty, so she rolled onto her stomach. Instant pain shooting through her belly, sucking in air through her teeth to bare the agony.
Donnie Darko (2001) dir. Richard Kelly
After finding Mighty lounging around in their livingroom, she scooped him up and darted out the front door. In mere seconds, she and mighty would have been surrounded and left for dead by the hunger-raided walkers. Her heart pounded against her chest as Mighty purred against her thumbing skin, a short-lived attempt to calm her as she turned the corner to find even more walkers. " fuck...mother fucker! " she cursed to herself in a low fitted rage boiling in her ears. There wasn't a way through and no way of going back, so she shoulder slammed into an apartment door that was left a jarred. In a quick effort, she closed the door and locked it, but the bumping and grinding on the dead against the fragile door didn't give her confidence. Though, jumping from the second story balcony seemed like the most enticing way to escape until she looked down to find the drop further than she anticipated. Mighty jumped out of her arms and meowed at Cleo, " yeah, yeah, yeah, i know how this looks. " Fingertips massaged her temple, any ways to conjure up an idea to get her out of this mess, as her eyes scanned the room. Sheets, and blankets, stood out as she was reminded of Finn and tying sheets together to sneak out at night. As she started her studious work, she made tight, dense knots that could hold her body weight and testing the make-shift rope by attaching a ten pound dumbbell to the end while the other end was tied to the bar on the balcony. She throw the dumbbell down to see if her knots would hold, and to her grateful graces, they did. Picking up Mighty, he gave a few hisses, but stopped when Cleo gave him a look of 'not today.' She swung her leg over as the thumping on the front door got louder and louder. Almost as if the walkers were fighting over who could get in first. Wide-eyed as she looked down and uncertainty washed over her. She shallowed the doubt and made her descend. Any hesitation would surely be the death of her; any slip-ups and down she would go. With one hand gripping and sliding down the sheets, burning flesh sizzled with an enticing fragrance for the dead. As she cleared her floor, she could see flailing arms grasping at the air for her from the room below. Her dangling feet attempted to kick at the decaying face, but missed. As the rope began swinging, her body twirled in the air as Mighty meowed again, in distress. Through all the commotion, she tried her best not to come into contact with her walker's nails or teeth. Instead, she lost her grip and fell to the ground on her back.
