Does anybody know what happened to user @garlickk ? I comissoned an art from her over a year ago, i payed 45 dollars, she sent me a sketch but hasn't responded to my messages since last May. It's really disheartening, i saw her making gorgeous art commissions, i do not have the means to lose money like this.

I haven’t posted about choices in like five years. Y’all might remember me as edwardstanno1 lol, or you might not because it’s been five years 😂

Anyway, I’m so saddened by the news of pixelberry selling out to a company “pioneering AI to make games.” Just thinking about the concept makes me sick.

I played so many wonderful games on that app, games that have changed my life, games with music that stays with me to this day, games that made me laugh or cry. These games were made by people who had a story to share.

I stopped playing choices because the games were going to crap, but I always loved those special games and loved the occasional gem they would release. Now there will be no more gems. Worst case scenario, the AI stories flop, the app gets shut down, and those beautiful and special stories will disappear forever. I hope that doesn’t happen. I want these special stories to stay around, but I don’t know how much hope there is.

I’m so sad. I hate AI so much.

I stopped playing choices regularly years ago because I could tell I just wasn’t the target audience, but it’s still really saddening to see them be acquired by a generative AI company. I can’t quite say Pixelberry was uncynical, because like most free mobile games, it relied on micro transactions and addicting “whales” to buy their in game purchases.

But they clearly cared about their characters and gameplay. And they knew the power of art! They knew they were making kids feel less alone and like they could be themselves. And they collaborated with cybersmile , the national eating disorder association, and the born this way foundation because they knew they could help their audience! Pixelberry used to know the importance of art as a way for people to connect with each other better than anyone.

I am disgusted and repulsed. After forcing him in 3 books over the years now they are doing it all over again. Their bias towards him is just so evident and they aren't even ashamed. Shoving him on us in all three books, cameo in WEH and now a solo short book!? What about the rest of the LIs? They don't care and it always shows.
