starter call~!
starter call from everyoneâs favorite murder child
A smile spread across her lips as he spoke. Sheâd waited her whole life to meet him, and there her was. Sure, there was plenty she wanted to know. Plenty she wanted to ask him. But she figured that heâd tell her more as time went on. At least, she hoped he would.
âAlright little one, with all of that out of the way. What have you been doing?â He decided at this point that maybe some idle conversation was in order. He doubted he would get much useful information from it, but it couldnât hurt.
âWell...I met those people you told me about. The Shepherds. One of them used to be with the Grimleal, but now heâs not. Heâs kinda funny.â She let out a soft giggle at the thought. It wasnât often she met someone who reveled in the dead as much as she did. Though, with Henry, it seemed to be their interests were for completely different reasons.

Silver eyes shot upward at the sound of the maleâs voice. She sat a bit straighter and gave a quick nod to answer his question. She hadnât expected to see any other people her size out here. It was kind of refreshing. Maybe he could tell her were she was? That would definitely help.
âHello. My nameâs Chryseis. Sure. You can ask me whatever, Iâm kind of an open book.â
Her brother always said talking to strangers was probably a bad thing, but in a place like this, it couldnât be, right? Especially since she was lost. Henry would probably commend her on such things. At least, she hoped he would. She stood up shakily, holding onto the tree in hopes of regaining her balance. Traveling through those really seemed to take a lot out of her. Chryseis brushed part of her hair back and leaned against the tree, patiently waiting for Lann to speak again.
âChryseis huh? Nice to meet you!â Well, now that she had given him the go to ask whatever he wanted he didnât really know where to start. It was to bad Tama wasnât here or he would have her ask instead she would likely be able to shorten the options of questions. Actually, it mightâve been even better is his sister was here, she always knew just what to ask. Neither of them were here though, so he would have to figure out what to ask, that was more important first even if he had a bunch of side question he wanted to as due to his curiosity.
âYouâre not from around here, are you? Most folk around here donât look like you and any that do well theyâre part of the Federation.â He pauses to shake his head and waving his arms around. âIâm not part of their group of course! Iâm a mirage keeper.â He was getting a little distracted so he tries to turn the conversation back around it was hard to do without his sister or Tama though. âDid you get through here from a portal? Did some âGodâ tell you to come here as well? Thatâs what happened to me.â Well, that probably sounded a bit far fetched so she may not believe him but it was the truth.Â
âTechnically speaking, I guess you could so that.â she replied, slowly trying to process everything he was saying. Sheâd been following her friends, after all. Trying to do as they were told. Trying to take care of whoever it was they were supposed to find. Yet, here she was in this strange place with this stranger. Looking back on where she came from, she couldnât exactly call his words far fetched. She heard constant voices in here head, for godsâ sakes. That in mind, his words really werenât that hard to believe.
âIâm a...a mage, I guess you could say.â she replied, shifting slightly to look for her pegasus, if by chance he was there too. Sheâd come through the gate with him. It made no sense that he shouldnât be there with her now. A soft sigh escaped her and she stood up, silver eyes scanning the area. âYou wouldnât have happened to see a black pegasus running around, have you?â
grimassecret:
âUmâŠsure.â
She shifted slightly and brought her knees to her chest. So some other children had killed the flowers. OrâŠwere they not entirely dead? These felt like important questions, but people thought she was crazy enough as is. No point in bringing any more unwanted attention than necessary. Silver eyes stared at the brunette for a moment longer before her gaze shifted to the flowers he had collected. The finished product did look rather nice on him. She doubted sheâd be able to pull such a thing off, however.
âOkay!â Morgan beamed at her and happily took to his task, beginning to pull a thread through one of the blossoms as he spoke. âI like seeing blossoms like this. I try not to pick too many flowers so that new ones can grow, and the old ones are still there to remind people of all the beauty there is in this world, even in the middle of all the fighting and everything, you know.?â
The tactician exchanged a small glance with her before continuing making the flower crown. âItâs important to have hope and things to remind you of all the wonderful stuff there is in this world, epsecially during times like these!â
âHope...?â she tilted her head slightly, staring at him as he spoke. She did enjoy looking at flowers, but with things the way they were, was there any point. No. There isnât. The voice urged her to ignore his words. That there was no point in listening to him speak. She did, however. It something entirely new to her. Something quite beautiful.
âThen why do you make these...? Doesnât it kill the flowers?â Chryseis brought her knees to her chest as she watched him work. What was the point in this other than to make something visually appealing? Was there a point other than just looking nice? âTheyâre dead, right? They got plucked from the ground and youâre wearing dead flowers on your head.â
âThat makes sense.â A small nod was given as she spoke. Looking at it that way, it did make a lot of sense. It was just easier for him to do it that way. She could respect that. Though, there wasnât anything about Grima that she couldnât and didnât respect. After all, heâd been there for her when no one else was.
She was very trusting of him, that alone was evident. The way she just accepted his vague answers without asking for much explanation. This could not be going better. âGood, Iâm glad you understand little one.â
A smile spread across her lips as he spoke. Sheâd waited her whole life to meet him, and there her was. Sure, there was plenty she wanted to know. Plenty she wanted to ask him. But she figured that heâd tell her more as time went on. At least, she hoped he would.
I realize I hit 120 awhile ago, so Iâm looking forward to new interactions. c: feel free to like this for a starter
âWell that makes this lots easierâŠbutâŠMister, Iâm confused. How come I hear you in my head all the time?â she brought her finger to the edge of her lips and tilted her head further. It was something sheâd never understood. Yet, it had always been there. Maybe now that she was actually meeting him, he could explain it. Even just a little bit.
âI suppose Iâm trying to guide you and what better way to do so than by giving you direct instructions.â He wasnât sure how to go about explaining this is a way that was both simple and wouldnât frighten her. The last thing he wanted was for her to get frightened or upset and start rebelling.
âThat makes sense.â A small nod was given as she spoke. Looking at it that way, it did make a lot of sense. It was just easier for him to do it that way. She could respect that. âThatâs a good point. If you arenât ready for what comes next, someone could sneak up and thenâŠBAM! Itâd all be over.â Chryseis gave a gentle nod, tapping her finger to her chin. Going out with the other always proved interesting. Especially now that she was old enough to understand half of the things that left her mouth.Â
âBut it isnât something we should worry about for now.â Cynthia laughed, taking Chryseisâs hand in her own, It was a beautiful spring day, they were out in the marketplace. âUsually this is a pretty safe place, and gods, smell those flowers~â She grinned taking in the scene around t hem. People hustled and bustled, but there was just something about the spring that gave Cynthia so much energy.
âThey do smell good...â Chryseis trailed off slightly, her eyes shifting to look around them as well. Usually she hated big towns, but being out with Cynthia made her feel a bit better. There was always the odd stare due to the way each of the girls held themselves, but neither ever really noticed. At least, Chryseis pretended not to. âYeah, youâre right. I guess now isnât a good worry time.â
âUm...sure.â

âI think so. You sounds lots like the voice, so Iâm gonna guess you have something to do with that, right?â she tilted her head slightly as she looked up at the man. He felt familiar in a way. Especially his voice. âAnd if you doâŠthen that makes you Grima! Right?â
âYes, I am Grima little one and yes I am the voice you hear. Iâm glad you were able to piece that together, it saves me quite a bit of explaining.â Well at least she appeared to be somewhat intelligent for a child, which made things a bit easier.
âWell that makes this lots easier...but...Mister, Iâm confused. How come I hear you in my head all the time?â she brought her finger to the edge of her lips and tilted her head further. âWhoa~! It looks so pretty outside today!â
The dark falcon made her way out of her tent and to the nearest tree. It wasnât very often that they got a day so bright. Half the time it felt like it was always raining. Now, she didnât mind the rain, but it was always nice to see the sun. There wasnât even a single cloud up in the sky! Maybe she could find Henry and the two could do something fun today. A hum escaped her as she left her spot among the tree line to search for her brother. Her focus wavered, however, upon spotting the tacticianâs son.
What with it being such a nice day, there had been no way Morgan was going to stay cooped up inside. The sun was shining but it wasnât too hot, either, just the right level of warmth for him. If nothing else, this was certainly perfect weather for making flower crowns! That had been exactly what the young tactician had taken to not long after his venture outside to a nice field very close to the camp. As he threaded the last couple of flowers of his current project together, he hummed a tune that heâd thought up and managed to get stuck in his head all day, but he was never too good at putting words to them. Either way, satisfied with the now finished floral arrangement, he lightly set it atop his head and beamed gleefully.
âFinished! Hopefully itâll look alright.â
The small flier made her way over to the other, tilting her head curiously. She stared for a moment or two as she tried to figure out what exactly he was doing. Was he killing the flowers? Just to put them on his head? That was dark even for the demented mage. That in mind, Chryseis made her way over to Morgan and sat down cross legged, staring up at him curiously. Usually sheâd steer away from the other children since she was never sure of what to think when it came to them, but Morgan had always been a bit different. At least, to her. It was like he had no idea about the things to come. Or perhaps he didnât want to? She wasnât quite sure. She just knew he was different than the others.
âWhat are you doing?â
grimassecret:
âIâm going on a mission for my liege!â
Slender fingers toyed with stands of long blond hair. Perhaps it was time for a trim. After all, it had never been this long back home. Then again, she was older now so perhaps it didnât matter. Her thoughts were wandering too much however, she was supposed to be having a conversation with this stranger.
âWellâŠmore so for the king than for my liege.â
He nodded. âNeat. Whatâs the mission, if I may ask?â He took a cherry out of a pouch on his belt, popping it into his mouth. His eyes never leaving the girl.
âItâs a secret.â
She giggled slightly, putting a finger to her lips. Usually she wasnât allowed to talk about what she was doing unless it was with fellow retainers. Or maybe Iago. She couldnât recall seeing this guy around before, she figured it would be best to just to keep quiet.
This has been on my mind for long but Iâm gonna do this - please reblog this if youâre comfortable with pre-establishing relationships. I do not mean âmet at the grocery store two weeks agoâ or âhave a common friendâ, but rather stuff like âhave been best friends since kindergrdenâ, âgo for a beer every fridayâ, âfriends with benefitsâ, âdated in highschoolâ, âhate each otherâs guts because -insert reason-â  etc. Something meaningful (but not necessarily shippy) and I mean with muns/characters you have not interacted with, because I cannot believe I am the only one who prefers jumping right into the heart of the human interaction.
