Ok ok a question I have about your oc is what kinda of powers does he have and how does he fit into the story. It seems like he and penguin have some romantic tension but with everything going on with nygma how does your oc come into play
OFCOURSE !!! I've been a long-time gotham fan and have met many of the actors over the years, including Robin Lord Taylor twice, where both times he was super happy to engage in conversation â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
1. Aristides's powers, so to speak, would be the ability of flight while remaining silent, nocturnal vision, increased strength, heightened hearing and reflexes, and also sharper, faster growing and more durable nails. He also can turn his head up to 270° just like an owl!
However, he usually refuses to use any of the abilities he can optionally use, he doesn't fly if he can help it, clips his nails daily and is careful to make sure he isn't turning his head too far.
He hides his physical appearance that has anything to do with the owl features, wearing lavish coats to hide wings, dark sunglasses to cover his eyes, gloves to cover his nails and slicking the two feathers atop of his head into his hair.
He avoids showing or using these features when he first becomes a public figure in gotham as he didn't want to be found out to be one of Hugo Strange's experiments and also because he despises them himself, he hates looking so inhuman.
His DNA was crossed with both a barn owls/great horned owl as Strange sought to make a better, stronger human by crossing their DNA with those of animal that possessed the desired characteristics.
2. He fits into the story in the start/middle of s3 but doesn't become anything notable until the start of s4. In s3 he was one of the escapees of Hugo Strange's experiments but went into hiding immediately after as he still had a good recollection of memories and reasoning, staying low until the bounties set out for the experiments had died down. This was the first time he ever got the space to fly/was one of the very few times he ever did, and he only did it as it really was a life or death situation to him.
After escaping, he managed to start a business as it was one of the only skills he had ever learnt in life as he was surrounded by businesses owned by his father from a young age. He made his way back up into Gotham's elite. He was known to be harsh to workers and like any other person in a position of power in the city, crooked. He networked with people and one of them was occasionally Oswald since it was unavoidable as he was the then mayor and also such a predominant figure in the criminal world but they never made more than forced polite conversation.
Then, in s4, the license to commit crime came in, Aristides was beyond aggravated at this as he had many manufacturing facilties that had been targets of robberies, and so he managed to get Oswald to strike a deal with him, appear to be allies with him through press and other means and Aristides would invest generously into Oswald's own businesses and infrastructure. They started out as forced politeness and thinly veiled threats/insults, but over time, they started to grow on eachother more.
( Now I do have some idea for how it continues and was going to be with Sofia Falcone influencing Oswald to betray Aristides but I've not really wrote it up yet so ill really just be writing off the top of my head for the next few things đ )
The betrayal would definitely consist of Oswald outing Aristides out as one of Strange's former experiments to the press. Oswald would've probably found the secret out through investigators or maybe Aristides trusted him enough to tell him either way Aristides felt hurt and betrayed after waking up to seeing his face being on every newspaper in gotham labelling him as a monster and he sought revenge.
Oswald would've been paranoid about the chance of revenge and hired extra security as well as tipped off police but Aristides ended up getting through them and to Oswald. He was ready to kill him, choking him out only to be shot by Jim Gordon before he could.
(- Random, but some dialogue for this I thought was fitting, Aristides would say something along these lines while choking out Oswald
"You've always had that limp. How about I break the other leg to even things out for you?" )
Aristides was then "taken back" to Arkham, not standing a trial as he was already seen as being insane for the fact that he was out of Indian Hill. He spent months despising Oswald and himself but eventually mustered the energy to gather his connections to get him out of Arkham, despite Oswald's influence on the matter.
Aristides would then offer an interview to the press, no longer hiding all those animal characteristics and instead rallying the people of gotham to see the experiments as victims and Hugo as the monster despite appearances and this worked surprisingly well by Gotham standards, ofcourse Aristides wasn't well-liked by everyone but it only took him a few meetings and interviews before he had re-established himself back into Gotham, gathering his businesses back, mainly through force.
This is where I have a few separate ideas for him, revenge, a treaty, or something else against Oswald, still unsure yet.
3. I would say that Oswald and Aristides have something along the lines of deeply platonic but slightly romantic, but their relationship is tainted with secrets and distrust of eachother but they do care for eachother in their own weird way, somewhat like Oswald and the Riddler.
4. Now, this is more so just a brief description of his character, some backstory and personality, and quirks.
He came from a very rich family. Old money, and because of this he grew up entitled, really just not thinking his actions through and being a nuisance as his parents could pay people off, but his parents (mainly his father) got sick of this and so they kicked him out and told him to go find his own way in the world since they werent going to indulge him anymore, this made him really despise his parents.
He was very resentful, and all his friends he had turned him away since he had no money and so he had to go and try and find some way to make money, no job would hire him because his personality was BEYOND insufferable along with the lack of other more basic service skills, he spent a long time on the streets before eventually being kidnapped and taken to Indian Hill, being mistakened for a homeless person that nobody would miss. Upon learning who he was, a son of a large enterprise, Strange made sure that there was nothing identifying on documents about Aristides especially, he too was reduced to a patient number just like many of the others in the facility but this also meant that in s3 when the GCPD raided the facility they couldn't identify him along with many of the other patients.
Aristides is a narcissistic capitalist. He enjoys money and power more than anything, he capitalises off of the poor, the working conditions in his factories being deplorable with the pay being little so that only the desperate who can't report anything or else they'd loose that income would choose this job.
He often asks rhetorical questions to make people feel inferior or insult them, being very sarcastic but blunt. He speaks like a member of high society as he is one and has been one since a young age, looking down on those that he sees as worthless (poor, sick, anyone who can't better him in some way)
He also has a habit of accidentally turning his head too far, which his employees/business partners have sometimes noticed and makes them feel unsettled but never enough to make them think he is anything more than just creepy before he was outed.
He doesn't have an owl tail by the way, that was added as a test for the animation..
