I AM WALKING RIGHT NOW
Neo sat on a wall in a deserted town, watching the horizon. She didn't have much to do ever since the Kingdom of Vale fell, so she just laid around and ensured no Grimm came her way.
“Come on guys, this way. We’ll set up here for the night. I’ll be a little late though, so I’ll keep watch for a bit.” Team RNJR began setting up a camp, and Ruby walked around the area. She could feel someone nearby but decided to ignore it. Once her friends were out of earshot, she pulled up her scroll. “Hey Emerald, you there? Is Cinder doing any better?”
That piqued Neo’s interest, and she crept closer to Ruby slowly
“That’s good. After what I did, losing control like that, I wish I could be helping her. But she needs me here, doesn’t she? Anyway, I hope she heals up. And are there any new orders from…her?” Ruby motioned her hand, like calling a dog. Minutes later, a beowolf came walking by. “Alright, I’ll keep them away from him. I’ll have to work with him, right? I won’t like it, but ok.”
Neo kept watching. “Where is she?” Neo asked, hopping out of the tree.
“Ahhh! Geez, you scared me. Down boy.” The grimm sat like an obedient hound, with Ruby scratching him behind the ears. “Where, I’m not sure. But she’s with some others. I’m supposed to keep them off of some guy named Watts. But, he insulted Cinder, so I’ll have to control myself. Anyway, she’s in good hands. Emerald and Mercury are there, and Salem, whoever that is. If Cinder trusts her, then so do I. I just have to follow orders. How’ve you been?”
“I’ve been better, since you killed my dad, but I suppose I have to hold off on finding out what your eyes would look like in a jar.” Neo said through gritted teeth.
“Um, yeah, sorry about that. But in my defense, a grimm are him. I would’ve let him go. No matter how much we didn’t like each other, no reason he had to die. But my eyes are staying where they are. Besides, you’d have to get through both halves of me. And…you guys were kind of winning. Yeah not one of my prouder moments. But I learned the hard way that you can’t change what you’ve done, no matter how much you want to take it back.” The beowolf tackled her down and started licking her face. “No, heel, heel.”
Neo sputtered and tried to push the Grimm’s head away. “Fine. Can I help you out?” She asked once she had a respite from the licking. “I lost my scroll in Vale, so you’re my only contact to Her.”
“Of course you can. I was told to look for the most dapper mustaches I’ve ever seen. Emerald said I’d know him when I saw him. So, that’s that. Don’t let the team catch you though. Now let’s see…what could you help with? I mean, I’m mostly just keeping the others busy and filling Cinder in on anything important. Like where we are, what we’re doing, what skills we’ve developed. Stuff like that. Anytime you need to use my scroll though, just ask. I wouldn’t mind.”
“I can gather information, steal funds and supplies, and kill isolated targets.” Neo said matter-of-factly.
“…Sounds…great? Gathering information is good, and Jaune kinda used all of our lien to upgrade his armor. Hm hm, that bunny hoodie. And if anyone gets too close to finding out…well I can always make it look like a grimm, but you’re all professional. So…wait, how would you do all that while making sure the others don’t know about you? I mean…yeah, you know.”
Neo engaged her semblance and suddenly looked like a tree.
“Moving trees aren’t exactly common, and I know I wouldn’t be able to stand there all day. But if that works for you then I guess. So now that that’s out of the way. What’ve you been up too? Since we last met I mean. I’ve…yeah, you can see. Oh, I can now use my semblance to bounce off of midair, and split up. It’s so cool.”
“Surviving. Grimm tend to flock towards me, but I can move quick.”
“So that’s why I felt someone there. I can sense negative emotions, just like any other grimm. What attracts them, attracts me, in the worst of ways. I never wanted this, but who can say they did? No one wanted this to happen. But Cinder’s orders are absolute. No argument, whether I like them or not. Anyway…on a more positive note. Jaune’s actually improving. Surprising, right?”
“Doesn’t Jaune buy in to Ozpin’s bullshit?” Neo asked, dropping the appearance of a tree and raising an eyebrow.
“Well, yeah, but he’s been practicing. Pyrrha trained him herself. And she was pretty much the best Beacon had. And we all know what happened to her.” She shivered. “Just more nightmare fuel. I’ve got plenty of those already. I don’t enjoy killing, but if I have to…”
“You’ll learn to love it if you have to do it enough… And the nightmares hardly ever come anymore…” Neo said, seeming to suddenly shut down and collapse.
"Whoa, are you alright? Neo? Neo? Don't you die too. Hnnnn. Um...let's see, how do I do this? Please don't tell me I have to do mouth to mouth. I'm not ready for that yet. Oh man, not good. Well, she doesn't look dead. Or smell dead, so that's a plus."

"That's good. After what I did, losing control like that, I wish I could be helping her. But she needs me here, doesn't she? Anyway, I hope she heals up. And are there any new orders from...her?" Ruby motioned her hand, like calling a dog. Minutes later, a beowolf came walking by. "Alright, I'll keep them away from him. I'll have to work with him, right? I won't like it, but ok."
Neo sat on a wall in a deserted town, watching the horizon. She didn't have much to do ever since the Kingdom of Vale fell, so she just laid around and ensured no Grimm came her way.
"Come on guys, this way. We'll set up here for the night. I'll be a little late though, so I'll keep watch for a bit." Team RNJR began setting up a camp, and Ruby walked around the area. She could feel someone nearby but decided to ignore it. Once her friends were out of earshot, she pulled up her scroll. "Hey Emerald, you there? Is Cinder doing any better?"
Ruby walked through the brush, watching Jaune practice.
Jaune panted heavily as he swung the blade in the air again. He took e breather when he heard the brush rustling. He turned with his weapon drawn ready for a fight. “Who’s there?” He called out as he peered into the dark edge of the clearing.
“It’s ok Jaune, it’s just me.” Ruby stepped forward, where he could easily see her. “I had a uh…yeah. I didn’t see you there, so here I am. I didn’t know you did this. You should’ve at least told me or Ren, we would’ve helped you out.”
Jaune squinted and could make out a familiar shape. He sheathed his weapons when he heard Ruby’s voice. Jaune looked away from the red haired scythe wielder. “I just….we’ve all got a lot on out plates already. I didn’t want to bother any of you with it.”
“Don’t worry about it. You’re doing pretty good. I could almost feel your attack from there. You’ve definitely made some progress. Just…don’t push yourself too hard. Ok?”
Jaune nodded and sat on nearly rock. “Ruby, be honest with me on this okay? Was it always so obvious? How Pyrrha really felt about me I mean?”
"Uuummmmm..." a few flashbacks of Pyrrha and Jaune flew through her mind. "If you look at it the right way. I mean, I didn't really see it either. A couple times, maybe, but not a lot. A kinda felt it, how she felt so positive towards you. Though I'm not as good at sending positive feelings as I am at sensing negative ones. You know, that half of me."
