I think if you liked the ending and you got something from it, I’m very happy for you. No bashing anyone who liked it! Seriously the ping ponging of love and hate and slandering both sides of the argument is not a good look for us.
This post was getting long and ranty so I've moved it to it's own post if anyone is interested.
I did a drawing and that sparked more thoughts and feelings about the finale...
Spoilers!!!
For me, the finale left a bad feeling. Am I glad we got something? I guess. I don’t know if it’s better to have wondered forever what happened after season two with no official resolution, or if it’s better that we got what we got.
I feel like we got “Jossed” (if anyone here remembers Buffy). It just feels like NG knew what the fans wanted, but he was loath to give it to us. We wanted a happy ending. He wanted to do something contrary, that clearly came from him, and could never be confused with pandering to fans.
If you’ll remember he already did this in season two by giving us a kiss between Aziraphale and Crowley, but he made it the most heartbreaking and devastating one possible.
I'm kind of pissed off about it tbh.
It’s not even that Crowley and Aziraphale are dead, they simply do not exist anymore. They’re completely and utterly obliterated with no prayer (pun intended) of coming back. Nothing we spent three seasons caring about exists anymore. Like... there's nothing left for us.
If someone knows how to fix it, i'm very willing to read it.
Who TF are Asa and Anthony? Just because they look like our angel and demon, does not mean they are.
(>>>Mini rant: This is why I hate AUs. I feel very strongly that character is not just how somebody looks— it’s how they behave and their behavior is shaped by their experiences and if you take away their experiences, they are no longer the same character. I also don’t read stories if the characters feel "out of character" to me.<<<)
NG made it impossible for these characters to remember anything or to have an echo of what came before because there is no before. So as nice as the sentiment is that they’ll "find each other in every universe", it isn’t possible because they never existed. They can't be reincarnated if they were never incarnated to begin with.
If you like AUs, you might be able to make this work, but for me it's just :/
(I’ll also add that my strong dislike of AUs in no way affects how I think of people who write and enjoy AUs— I’m so happy that people find something in fandom that inspires them, it’s just not for me. Please enjoy your bean soup! I will keep searching for a recipe that I like.
ARs make way more sense to me than AUs, but I digress.)
NG is well within his right to handle his IP as he sees fit, but I do not have to like it. And as sorry as I am for the people who fought to give us this finale, their hard work does not invalidate my dislike of the story. I can appreciate they did the best they could with what they were given in the time they had.
All that said, there were parts I could enjoy, which I will have to explore in the future. And I can always just not think about the tv show beyond what the original book gave us.
Just, gosh, what a bummer! I was really looking forward to playing in the Good Omens sandbox again and now I just feel sad about it.
(Also NG is an asshat for a multitude of reasons.)
Didn’t think I was going to do this, but this weekend some lovely people gave me reasons to try.
Thank you ❤️
It can be difficult for me to reach out, so here, have a drawing instead of words.
These are some Val studies since I’ve only drawn him once before. (And one Iceman & Maverick study because of reasons.)
Still figuring out Val’s shapes.
I kept redrawing these faces until they looked somewhat like Val. The bad thing about looking for Val photo ref from circa 1986 is that photo reference is often grainy or very low res. On the plus side I got to see a whole bunch of awesome Cher photos.
and for AI-less Whumptober 4. Hiding an injury / betrayal / lying
Three of the little words Ethan just uttered impale him, lancing his heart all the way through, but Benji has little focus to spare on that now. He's furious, but more than that he's terrified. Ethan is drenched in his own blood, the dramatic wound at his side is threatening and deep, and will definitely kill him if he doesn't get medical attention soon. To top it off, there are gunman at their heels and many steps between them and their transport.
Benji replies, "Don’t try to distract me from my tirade! You are going to make this up to me later!"
Ethan breathes through the pain and says, "Yes, sir."
"Stop being agreeable and charming when I am fuming!" Benji snaps, but his ire cools into something more malleable when he catches the unmistakable fondness in Ethan's eyes.
That fondness is why Ethan makes stupid, altruistic moves like this one, opting to bleed out rather than put Benji at risk. He'd rather die before he'd see me hurt, Benji thinks and frowns.
It's a familiar refrain, a tune that's seemingly stuck in Ethan's head in an endless loop. It's a love Benji can't handle, fervent and unadulterated and so authentically Ethan that Benji can't hold onto this anger in the face of it.
As his fortitude wanes, Ethan grows heavier against his side, borrowing more of Benji’s strength as they walk.
“M’sorry, Benji,” Ethan whispers, and for an alarming moment Benji thinks he’s going to faint.
Benji digs his fingers into his unwounded side and tugs him closer.
"Just concentrate on staying conscious and putting one foot in front of the other," Benji says as he leads them onward. "I'll take care of the rest."
Releasing a pained sigh, Ethan nods, dropping his chin towards his chest. “Thank you,” he breathes, at once both grateful for Benji and vulnerable at his side.
A great swell of protectiveness rises up then envelops Benji whole. He feels a dizzying rush of tumultuous and overwhelming sentiment, and wonders briefly if this is how Ethan feels all the time.
Benji won’t let anything happen to Ethan. He’ll steer them clear, and once Ethan is sorted and out of danger, they are going to have a frank discussion about priorities and maybe one about love if Benji has the courage for it.
I’m trying to think of a way that would allow Crowley and Aziraphale have time together after they both have reconciled and understood that they love each other.
So what if that meeting they had in the garden of Eden/bookshop could go on indeterminately?
God and the devil were in a conversation for who knows how long and I don’t think they would be very good at keeping track of time.
What if they were allowed to live and spend time in the garden before they return to tell God their decision? What if they had hours days weeks months or years there ?
Look I’ve only ever seen it once so I don’t know if this idea has wings, but this is where my brain is sort of gravitating towards as a possible place for wiggle room.
I just wanted them to have time together while they were both in tune with each other’s hearts and minds.
6000 years and it still wasn’t enough.
I just really dislike the finale ending. I think it falls into that “it just wasn’t for me” category because I can understand that it wasn’t necessarily a poor choice… just one I don’t like.

(These are listed like this for clarity and accessibility, but you can choose any horizontal, vertical or a diagonal line of three. See below for details.)
Here are the rules below!
How To Play
Complete three prompt squares in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, and you win the challenge! There are eight possible combinations.
What is a complete prompt?
✦ A complete prompt is either 500 or more words or at least one drawing, gif set, video, etc. of whatever your chosen media is.
✦ The content can be Gen or Slash and feature other characters, but our favorite spy duo, Benji and Ethan, must be the main characters in order to fulfill a prompt on this Bingo Card.
✦ And of course, the prompt must be featured in the story.
Are there any other rules?
✦ No AI is allowed in this challenge. Otherwise it's not a challenge, you know? (Anyone caught using AI will be outed and blocked.)
✦ Your entry must be newly created for this bingo card, not retroactively tagged or added on to a pre-existing fic or multi-chapter fic already in progress.
✦ Let’s keep it easy to count. Only one prompt per post please!
✧ You can write a multi-chapter story, and each chapter can have a different prompt, but you can’t combine multiple prompts within one chapter. You can split one prompt into multiple chapters though.
✦ Please use the NUMBER of the prompt somewhere in your post/writing/media so it’s easy to keep track.
How do I win?
✦ You can post as you go, but in order to officially win, you have to tag this blog in a post with links to ALL THREE complete prompts declaring BINGO! Make sure to use the hashtag #BenthanBingo2026
✦ If you don’t have a Tumblr, you can send an ask with your AO3 handle and a list of your three completed works.
✦ A winner will get bragging rights, a sense of accomplishment, and a digital Benthan Bingo Winner Badge for those who complete Bingo.
✦ The winners will be tagged (or called out if you don’t have a Tumblr) in post with the corresponding badges!
✦ It’s going to be the honor system, y’all. Winners and badges will be posted a week after the deadline and you can take, use, display as you wish.
How do I interpret these prompts?
✦ There is one prompt per square, and each prompt is one line of dialogue that any character can say; it does not matter who. It can be over heard by the characters; it does not have to be said directly by them. The line just needs to be IN the story/art somewhere.
✦ You can interpret the prompt any way you want to.
What the heck is a Wild Card?
✦ “Wild Card” means you can choose any prompt from the bingo card or the wild card list that you want to fill in that square. Each row has one wild card, except one row which has three, so you can be guaranteed to have at least one prompt of your choosing. You must choose a prompt from the card or the wild card list to use in your wild card space!
When do I post?
✦ You can post whenever you have completed each prompt! Feel free to tag this blog and use the hashtag #BenthanBingo2026
Is there a deadline?
✦ It can be helpful to have a date to work towards, but you can complete at your own pace, too! If you complete the challenge by the deadline, you will get a digital badge and a shout out on this blog.
✦ Completion Deadline to earn a badge is Sunday, June 28th 2026 at 11:59pm in whatever time zone you are in. That gives us about 8 weeks to get BINGO! You can still work on the bingo card at your own pace.
✦ Mods will do our best to reblog works before the deadline, but after the deadline we cannot promise to reblog everything. (But we'll try!)
Hey, you didn’t reblog my stuff!
✦ Ah, our bad! It’s a total mistake if mods don’t reblog your work within 3 days of posting. Make sure you tag this blog and use the tag #BenthanBingo2026
✦ If we still miss it, just send us a message! We’re happy to support your work.
Questions?
✦ Send an ask and we will reply as soon as we can.
I don’t know. it was OK. if I’m being honest it was kind of a mess and I didn’t like the ending.
It felt disjointed. Almost like they had a whole bunch of tadpole ideas for a series and then crammed them, unfinished, into one aimless movie because their lead storyteller got rightly cancelled for being a disgrace.
Why the whole bit with Crowley gambling his car away in such a forced way? Why was that guy who wanted the car someone random and not tied into the plot? What was the point of having Jesus escape to earth? The actor was lovely and I enjoyed his interactions but he didn’t seem to add anything to the plot other than an excuse for Azriphale to talk with Crowley and once that was accomplished they didn’t know what to do with him.
The demons in hell were superfluous. They had no point in the story. And it wasn’t really a mystery that Michael was behind the chaos. I also don’t understand how other characters got destroyed by having their individual pages ripped out and burned but then Crowley only saves the one page with the bookshop and not their individual pages so how did they all survive when Michael throws the book in the fire? Did I miss something?
The only interesting parts were the wartime beginning, any conversation between Crowley and Aziraphale, and the end with God, the devil and the bookshop. But then I disliked the human ending because it cheated us out of the characters we’ve loved. They took these interesting supernatural characters and made them absolutely mundane which is why I generally HATE AUs. Let’s erase everything that makes characters who they are and put them in a coffee shop. It’s like sawing the horn off of a unicorn because you prefer horses.
Like, I get it, it was the unselfish ending, the “right” ending, and showed us that “they” love each other in every universe. But I wanted Crowley and Aziraphale, not Anthony and Asa. Because they’re not the same people that they were before. God asked them if they understood the cost and this is the cost— they’re not here anymore. just because Anthony and Asa look like Crowley and Aziraphale doesn’t make it them and that’s what I’m struggling with. People become who they are because of their experiences, take those experiences away and they’re different people.
(all these people ended up together in the same universe and time period— does that mean that God still interfered?)
Of course there were humorous moments and amazing acting. I thought Michael Sheen had some excellent moments in this. And so did David of course!
I think I need to watch it again to fully absorb things and focus on the good stuff.
