so we got a second large shelf to stow our beer bottle collection on, which is good since it was undignified having new bottles sitting in a box next to the main shelf
every shelf in these pictures is three rows deep - the stuff on the outside that we sorted is mostly brews we either really like or have a lot of bottles for, and it tends to get rotated every 3-6 months so other bottles get to see the light of day. the rules for the collection are as such:
To be eligible for the collection, the beer must have been drank either a) at Robot House HQ (aka my apartment), b) by a person currently living at Robot House (so myself or Charley), or c) by a credited member of the Robot House collective, preferably at a party or excursion in which many Robot House members are attending
No mass-produced American adjunct beers - crafts and imports only. Crafts by large companies (such as Blue Moon) or very large craft breweries (such as Sam Adams) are permitted, but they’re toeing the line a bit.
No duplicates. Every bottle in the collection is unique, and duplicates will be weeded out if they’re found.
And yes, those old-school cans on the top row of the second pictured shelf (including my personal favorite of the entire collection, the blank white BEER can) are legitimately part of the collection - my local bar (the Crescent Moon Ale House in Omaha, NE) bought a large collection of old beer cans last year, in which there were still several hundred which had beer left in them. So, they decided to sell tickets to a “vintage beer tasting” where we’d pretty much grab them, crack ‘em open, and have a good time. Strangely enough, I did not die when taking part in this adventure, and I managed to get several vintage cans added to our collection in a 100% legitimate fashion, which pleased me greatly.
