why is it so difficult for people to believe that Nagini was human? like we always knew she wasn’t a normal snake, it always made sense to me anyway for her to have been transfigured or something by Voldemort (obviously we know now that’s not what happened, she likely transformed fully and irreversibly way way before she met Voldemort)

I don’t understand why people think Rowling couldn’t have had this backstory in her back pocket for 20 years either, I have the most obscure backstories for a lot of my minor characters as well and we already know the level she went to to put the original story together, it’s not unbelievable that she could have intended to throw in some Nagini backstory in there as well when she was working on the original and decided it didn’t move the plot along enough to include

I’m so disappointed with the harry potter fandom right now, is there a damn thing you don’t complain about? First the “you can’t apparate in Hogwarts!!!!!”, then the Dumbledore and Grindelwald relationship and now calling the choice of making an asian woman Nagini racist? You’re going too far, let me explain you some things:

1- It’s called characterization, she has something that define her and influences her choices exactly like Remus fucking Lupin. She’s not just a random asian girl put there to serve the dark lord, she’s a fucking individual with a personality, a story, a curse. She MUST be important if she ends up somehow serving Voldemort and since you don’t know the dynamic you can’t judge it as racist.

2- JK is doing five movies about racism and supremacy, she knows what she’s talking about. Giving an Asian girl an important role, a characterization and interesting dynamics is not racist, it’s the exact opposite.

3- I’m tired of you complaining about the continuity with the HP serie and books. Your know it all behavior is toxic to the fandom and very disrespectful towards the woman who created this universe and this story and certainly knows better than you how it works and where and how the story has to go. Everything will be clear in the end just wait to see the movie.

To everyone upset about Queenie becoming the equivalent of a Nazi, because she was a “good, loving and empathic character in the first movie.” That’s the point. I feel like they were trying to show, that you don’t have to be a “bad” person to be sucked in by charisma. You don’t have to be an evil person, to believe things said by a good liar. You have to be alone, and lost, aching for change and love. Even good people can fall in line with awful ideas.
