See the moment the kids in the neighbourhood surprised their elderly neighbours by lighting up their house for Christmas
There are a number of great veteran support organizations (Homes for Our Troops, Hope for the Warriors, Semper Fi Fund as a few examples) in addition to your organization, Got Your 6. Have there been any attempts to share resources, best practices, or otherwise coordinate efforts by the veteran support orgs?
Great question. There are actually more then 40k nonprofit organizations across the country that serve veterans and military families. Given that stat, we recognized the real need to coordinate and deduplicate efforts in order to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the veteran service space. As a result, Got Your 6 created a coaltion of 34 best-in-class organizations that are doing incredible work on the ground to both serve and empower veterans and military families. Our coalition partners are dedicated to collaborating and sharing resources – we do that by keeping open lines of communication, meeting regularly, and supporting one another’s initiatives. You can check out our partners here: https://gotyour6.org/partners/nonprofit/ -Bill
Hello! On the heels of Veterans Day, we’re hosting an Answer Time tomorrow with Bill Rausch, an Iraq War veteran and the Executive Director at Got Your 6. He leads a national campaign that unites cross-sector partners who believe that veterans are uniquely suited to tackle society’s most pressing challenges.
In addition to 10 years in the U.S. Army, Bill has consulted for the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense while assigned to the Pentagon. He regularly testifies in front of Congress and is Chapter Captain for Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) in his local community in Alexandria, VA.
Got Your 6 is shifting public perceptions so that veterans’ leadership and skills are recognized and utilized at home to strengthen communities.
Submit your questions about Got Your 6 and our nation’s veterans here and be sure to tune in 11/17 at 2pm ET!

It’s time to take action, Tumblr. It’s time for Action on Tumblr.
If you woke up in an America you don’t recognize, if you feel heartsick and scared, if you’ve found some smoldering hope inside of you, if you’re ready to get to work, if you’re fired up to fix this damn place, take Action.
In the buildup to the election, Tumblr hosted important conversations about issues that matter. Today, we’re moving from education to action. With Action on Tumblr, we’ll be handing the megaphone to the marginalized and letting them speak for themselves. In fact, right at this very moment you can ask an undocumented immigrant about her experiences, advice, concerns, hopes—anything—and so far her answers are a hell of a read.
We’ll be providing venues for you all to connect with each other and become your own collective agents of change. We’ll be listening to you and supporting you. Whatever we can do to help you determine the future of the world you live in, we’ll be doing it.
We all need to work together, and we need to work fast. When you’re ready to get to work, or if you’re already making action happen, be sure to post about it and tag it #takeaction.
And if you’ve got ideas—big or small—for what you’d like to see out of Action on Tumblr, our ask box is always open.
