i’m...trying to figure out who exactly aloyse’s parents would be, but it’s....messy, at the moment.
i’ve got some (probably subject to change names) for them: arduinna for the treveri, a gallic tribe native to luxembourg and belgium, and clovis for the franks.
i don’t imagine aloyse was around them for long; he was raised mostly by monks in the city of trier, germany. i’m thinking trier might also be a sibling to aloyse? maybe? but i’m not sure.

rping aloyse is so hard because most of the other characters i play are eastern european and don’t have much money. aloyse is rich and western european. he is a statistical outlier.

Nico Klopp - Selfportrait - 1924
Nico Klopp (1894–1930) was a Luxembourg painter remembered above all for his post-impressionist paintings of scenes on the River Moselle where he lived.
Born on 18 September 1894 at Bech-Kleinmacher on the Moselle in south-eastern Luxembourg, Klopp attended the Arts and Crafts School in Luxembourg before studying art in Cologne (1916-1918) and Weimar (1919-1920).
In the mid-1920s, he was among those who reacted not just against the trends of the 19th century but also against the impressionists, inspired by artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne. Together with Joseph Kutter and a group of other Luxembourg artists, he therefore broke away from the Cercle artistique de Luxembourg and became a co-founder of the Salon de la Sécession in 1927, inspired by secessionist developments in Munich, Vienna and Berlin. Klopp lived in Remich where he painted many pictures of the bridge over the Moselle. Both his landscapes and his still lifes are distinctive in their bright colouring and their solid strokes which clearly bring out the main subjects. He exhibited his works at many salons and exhibitions in Luxembourg, Trier, Nancy, Bruges, and Echternach. He died in Luxembourg City on 29 December 1930 when he was only 36.
In Berlin, a growing crowd listens as a German officer reads the official Kaiser decree of mobilization on 1 Aug 1914. The following day, after the Schlieffen Plan had begun, Germany invaded Luxembourg.
Mr. Hermans.

This was my conversion to the baroque. Here under that high and insolent dome, under those tricky ceilings; here, as I passed through those arches and broken pediments to the pillared shade beyond and sat, hour by hour, before the fountain, probing its shadows, tracing its lingering echoes, rejoicing in all its clustered feats of daring and invention, I felt a whole new system of nerves alive within me, as though the water that spurted and bubbled among its stones was indeed a life-giving spring.
