How Oropher Became King:
How Thranduil Became King:
Why is Ava always sitting on tables?? idk it just seems like something that would bother Ferdan
And Ferdan has bigger, more important fights to pick with his Elflings. Like them using most windows as doors & scaling walls like gecko's instead of using stairs.
Was Oropher upset that Thranduil made Ava queen when he sailed west? Did he think she was capable, or would he have rathered Thranduil gave the Throne to a male as is tradition?
Thranduil had nothing to do with Avaleina becoming Queen when he left. While the leader of the Greenwood Elves uses the title of a Monarch, power is not gained or passed in the same way as a traditional monarchy.
Their leaders are elected by the Silvan people; Avaleina becoming Queen was entirely the decision of the Greenwood Elves.
So no, Oropher has no negative opinions about Avaleina being elected queen after Thranduil sailed west.
do you have any fics you haven’t published yet? like ones you’re unsure about but want to?
I have a borderline unfathomable amount of stuff that has never been published, but none are full fics. I simply do not have the dedication to write something long-ish and not post it anywhere. There is a fic or two that I borderline regret posting, but will most likely never ever take them down. Perhaps one day I'll re-write and re-post them. Most of the stuff that I have that isn't published are pieces written mostly or entirely about OC's as a kind of character study situation for them, and they arnt published mostly because I don't think anybody would care to read them.

@lusseeldalion Thats the nicest thing anybody could have possibly said 😭😭😭
what do you think would actually happen is galion DID have to kill something? especially since he’s like No Thank You, won’t carry a weapon, and main strategy is “Run Away Fast While Screaming Like a Banshee”
When it comes to the actual physical part of doing the killing, Galion would at least be OKAY at it. He’d be hysterical the entire time probably, and even more so after, but both Oropher and Ferdan individually made sure that he was ‘good enough’ with a blade to defend himself if he ever really needed to. So like, he’d be hurting and probably bleeding quite a bit because he really would have to be in a Kill or Be Killed situation. The entire ordeal would look ridiculous as fuck, but he’d be able to accomplish the task.
Mentally………………………. Galion would be Deeply Unwell…… for a W H I L E
It would feel like the very very very last personal boundary he had in this world was ripped away from him, which would cause him to really deeply struggle with feelings of helplessness, powerlessness, and uselessness. It would reframe a lot of things about the world and about himself in a not very favorable light.
He would also probably have a Guilt Spiral for the record books, thinking about how all of his elflings have been killing things for practically their entire goddamn lives -- How are they handling this better than him? ARE they handling it better, or is it an act? Are they just so numb, and he did not notice? Should he be ashamed of being this troubled by it? Should he be troubled that the others don’t seem to be having a hard time? How does he get this feeling to go away? How can he have a good night sleep again? Are these the dreams Thranduil & Ferdan & the others have been waking with for decades? Are there’s somehow even worse than this? Is everyone he loves doing more and suffering more than he’s ever even tried to do on their behalf? Does this feeling ever go away? Can somebody rewind time so that he can just die instead and not have to know he took a life?
Does the blood ever wash off of his hands?
Can somebody hold him, for just a little while?
Not really, no. A way to MITIGATE the reaction would be if he killed something in order to protect somebody else that he loves very much. Like if he had to kill some Orcs to protect Legolas or something. But …… he would still feel the same hopelessness, powerlessness and uselessness. The guilt that ate him alive would still be around but just in a different font. He would also probably try a lot harder to hide how much he was falling apart over it, because he would not want whoever he saved to feel reasonable for his reactions and guilt.
Galion does not want to kill anything. Any scenario that forces him to kill, will negatively affect him. Regardless of how necessary it is. I don’t think that he would even be able to kill a fish for food unless somebody was very very close to starving to death, and even then, he’d be a little messed up about it.
Hi!!! How are you? I hope you're well! I asked this a couple of weeks ago and idk if it got swallowed into the dark depths of your inbox or if you're still thinking and haven't gotten back yet (if you are then I am SO sorry for sending this twice!!!) but...
When do you think was the exact moment Thranduil realised Sauron was back and how do you think he reacted? Was it more of sitting in silence for a few centuries and contemplating all life decisions, or was it crashing out for five minutes followed by an exhausted sigh? (Sorry again if I'm spamming you)
Have an amazing day!! 💛💛💛
Helloooo!! Im doing well thank you 💛
I didn’t take Thranduil very long to suspect it was Sauron behind the sudden darkness in his forest for many reasons… the timing of the arrival, the inelegance behind it, the ruthlessness, the strength. No other answer really made any logical sense to him. He told the other Elven Realms about his worries that Sauron had not been fully destroyed and was already working on building his strength back up again. But the other realms were too desperate to finally have some peace, and didn't believe him. Kept insisting it wasn't possible.
After Sauron learns that the other realms don't believe Thranduil's warnings, he sent him some sort of sign or message that made it EXPLICITLY CLEAR Sauron was the one in Thranduils forest, but was careful not to do it in a way that Thranduil could use as proof for the others. Literally just because Sauron is an Asshole that likes to play with his food
(Same vibes as the joke-story that goes vaguely like: “One day your dog that you’ve had for years and years turns to you, and begins a conversation with you in perfect English. After a while, you ask him why he decided to speak now after all of this time, and the dogs says ‘Because nobody will ever believe you.’ and then never speaks again.” )
Anyways. After it was officially confirmed it was Sauron, Thranduil crashed tf out (somewhat) privately for a few days and then was like “Well. Knowing for certain that its Sauron does not change the fact that we have already been locked in this stalemate war. It does not change the fact that we will not leave our forest. IT PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF, ESPECIALLY BECUASE NOW I K N O W I’M RIGHT BUT I WILL STILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH EVERYONE ELSE NOT BELIEVING ME ABOUT IT but other than that it does not change anything. We have already been doing the impossible, and will simply have to continue.”
To be honest, the rage of being 100000000000000000% CERTAIN that it was Sauron in his backyard was probably, like, half the reason Greenwood survived the Third Age. “I’m right, and the rest of the world WILL KNOW, and I WILL LIVE SO THAT THEY HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO ME ABOUT IT.”
Sorry it took so long to reply!! It was a mixture of pondering the response and seeing if i could finish the fic I started writing literally 6 months ago on this topic and the answer is: No - and I will continue to wrestle the Demons Inside Of Me that say I should just post it as two chapters.
(You arnt spamming, and even if you did I wouldn't care 💛💛💛💛)
Thank you! Stay safe 🥰

is snip snap the turtle the trio rescued in your fic invitation?
Yessss she is!! A souvenir from their first official group hang that stayed around forever <3
LOVE the dichotomy of
Legolas "Could not successfully lie to his father or really anyone for that matter even if my very life depended on it"
and
Avaleina "If anyone is going to successfully keep a secret from us, it'll be her FOR SURE"
Being the love of each other lives. IT'S CALLED BALANCE, THRANDUIL OKAY.
LISTEN ........ she heard Ferdan say "Id rather ask for forgiveness than for permission" ONE TIME and it permanently altered her brain chemistry.

Hiiii!!
How are you? Just a quick question, how old do you reckon Legolas was (in the equivalent human years) when his mum died? Cause I've read a few of your fics and in some he seems to be around 4/5 and in others it sounds like he's 2.
Thanks and stay safe out there :)
Hello!! Im good thank you, i hope you are too 💛 Yes; a few of my fics have him at different ages when it happens either because
A) it was written before i decided what age i wanted him to be when happened.
B) Somtimes its fun to write things ""outside"" of my "designated timeline."
THAT BEING SAID -- In the 'official' GrowinginGreenwood / SpaceAsthmatic timeline, Legolas is around 4 or 5 when his mom dies.
A multi-day snowstorm at the end of fucking April is just cruel. Mother nature PLEASE. I AM BEGGING FOR MERCY AND GREEN GRASS
who gave the kids sex ed😂thran, fer, or gal or as a collective unit?

Ferdan
He's the only one that isnt JUST as embarrassed as the elflings during the entire ordeal. I feel like initially, Ferdan and Thranduil were going to do it together, but then Thranduil turned a fabulous shade of scarlett and Ferdan threw him out and refuses to let it go now.
"Are you sure you'll be okay speaking with them? It wont be too scary, like talking to a handful of elflings about basic anatomy was?"
also srry for the 2nd ask in quick succesion lmao but I was rereading one of my fav fics from yours ("Survivors price") and I just wanted to know if you have more headcannons about Thranduil and Celeborn and how they percieve each other and how people close to them see their relationship?
ngl they facinate me sooo much, like Celeborn pretty much saw Thranduil grow up carefree in Doriath and then change from so much trauma, but still seeing that elfling he remembers running playing with luthien and making Oropher lose his mind when he went missing for too long in one of his "adventures".
they just facinate me soo much i'm so interested in them
Hello welcome back!! No worries at all about multiple asks, I love it so much tbh. Thank you for being so patient for the replys! I'm going to do my best to be calm and normal for this answer but its going to be difficult because i am NOT normal about them. Literally at all. 😂
(Lore sidenote: Tolkien changes his mind several times about if Galadriel and Celeborn were in Menengroth for either of the sackings, be it the Dwarves or from the Sons of Feanor. I personally think there are more examples and supporting evidence of them NOT being there, and so that is what I have adopted into my own little head canon.)
Prince Thranduil Oropherion as he was before Thingol died lives rent-free in Celeborn's subconscious mind every moment of every day. His cranky but still eternally happy and curious younger cousin. The one that knew half of the worlds secrets already, and was so determined to find the rest. That delighted in everything. Delighted to learn, to explore, to experience. The one that was not afraid of anything, who had faith in the world around him. Faith in its goodness. Faith in the goodness of others.
He was one of Celeborn's favorite people, and was loved so so so very dearly by him. Celeborn was one of the first elves to consistently got along with Thranduil (other than Luthian, of course.) and then look around at everyone else all, "What? Like its hard?"
Seeing the Prince Thranduil Oropherion that emerged from the burnt ruins of the city was more heartbreaking for Celeborn than the actual destruction of the city itself. Somehow, it felt more important. More permanent.
A city can be rebuilt, a soul cannot.
But he was wrong. It can, and Thranduil does. It takes decades, but after the war of Wrath, after Oropher takes what is left of his people across the Misty Mountains and to live among the Greenwood Elves, that carefree Prince Thranduil begins to return. Celeborn literally weeps tears of happiness the first time he notices, the first time he sees a glimpse of his little cousin once more.
To Celeborn, Thranduil is proof that not all good things can and have been irreparably damaged by the darkness. No matter what burdens were draped over Thranduil, no matter the hurt, the anger, the resentment, and the hopelessness, Celeborn could still see the same Mischievous Prince of Doriath within him. See the love Thranduil has for the world, and the love the world has for him in return. See the gentleness behind all his pain.
To Thranduil, Celeborn is proof that he has not lost himself. Even if at times the 'real him' is difficult to find, there is something about Celeborn that makes it easier, because Celeborn has always seen the best parts of him so much easier than everybody else every has. Celeborn reminds Thranduil through his general continues presences in Thranduil's life and occasionally through verbal or written encouragement that even though he has been through more pain and suffering than he would wish upon anyone, he has not lost himself. That he will not lose himself, because Celeborn refuses to look away from him. Refuses to stop seeing him. Refuses to let the pain and the anger burry his little cousin.
Even so, I think that Celeborn feels IMMENSE guilt and shame when it comes to Thranduil. For many things and many reasons, logically or otherwise, that all boil down to "I abandoned him, repeatedly, to the mercy of fate. I should have done more, maybe if I had, I could have prevented some of his suffering. I could have protected him. But I didn't. I never did. Every time that I said I would do right by him the next time .... I did not. I never did." His guilt makes it difficult for those that are close to Celeborn to see their relationship as much more than an attempt from Celeborn to alleviate some of that guilt and 'make up' for his actions. Plus, they don't get to see the "Real Thranduil" that Celeborn loves so so so dearly. Galadriel knows that spending time with Thranduil brings her husband peace and happiness, but does not comprehend how or why. Celebrian is probably the only one that really, truly, understands their relationship.
Those close with Thranduil understand it much more, as they get to see the 'real relationship' the two of them have together. They can see the emotional comfort and security that Celeborn brings to Thranduil, they understand that Celeborn is the closest thing to be found during an "I want my dad :(" moment. They see that Celeborn knowns, loves, and see's the ''real'' Thranduil. (Although, some of them DO feel like Thranduil should be angrier for the lack of help that Celeborn offers, but have learned to keep these thoughts to themselves.)
Okay I need to stop bc this thing is getting close to 900 words but I JUST HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT THEM AHHHHHHHH
But if theres anything in specific you want me to expand on, just let me know! 🥰🥰🥰
Heyyy, how are you doing? it's been a while since a read a thranduil fic, but when i remembered yours, i imediatley came back and started rereding everything and I love it just as much as i remember! <3
also while reading it it came to my mind: did anyone that knew thranduil and ferdan in doriath (or maybe those 2 with galion on lindon) stayed back in lindon and eventualy went to rivendel? cause since elves like remembering the past so often I can only imagine one bringing up what they used to do when kids and everyone disbelieving them cause "have you ever even seen them smile? you're obviously misremembering smth.." lmao
Omg hello!! Welcome back!! I recognized your name and icon INSTANTLY <3 Thank you again for all the wonderful & stunning & incredibly thoughtful reviews you’ve left on so many of my stories <33
I think there are a few elves from Doriath still kicking around Middle Earth, although tbh I feel like most of them would either be living in Greenwood with Thranduil or The Grey Havens with Cirdan. But I’m sure there’s an elf or two that went to Rivendell instead, or maybe visits there sometimes.
I also think that you’re 100% correct about most not believing stories about how playful and ridiculous Thranduil (and to an extent, Ferdan) used to be. But that would also probably make the reactions 10x funnier to the story teller, who absolutely knows they're telling the truth and have 200 other stories they could have told instead that match (but probably surpass) the level of tomfoolery of the original story.
Its basically a giant inside joke that all residents of Menegroth are In On regardless of they knew Thranduil personally or not.
Elf from Doraith: The reason that Belts became a mandatory part of a guards uniform was because Thradnuil and Ferdan kept having competitions to see who could pull down the most pants of On Duty Gaurds in a pre-agreed upon timeframe.
Elf not from Doriath: …..That’s absurd. I might be gullible, but not that gullible. How can you even come up with this stuff?
Elf from Doriath: Difficult to forget suddenly having your pants around your ankles in a public place. It's a very unique kind of confusion.
Elf not from Doriath: I know you're just trying to get a reaction from me…. Right??? 👀👀
Elf from Doriath: Hmm. You'll never know, will you?
Hi! I hope you're well! Can you post a selfie? I realized recently that I've been following you forever and have no clue what you look like other than the 'Nap Chronical" photos lol I love having a face to go with blogs that I adore and frequently creep If you dont want to or feel uncomfortable omg pleaes ignore do not feel pressure or anything
Hi! I am well, thank you, i hope you are too!!
Omg it has been forever since ive posted a normal selfie, hasnt it? I mean obvi it has, if you have no clue what i look like.
Behold! My face!
Hi! How are you? Do you think that, like Thranduil, Legolas would have a way of remembering all those who had fallen? Also, what manner of tattoos does Ava have? Are they swirly or are they sharper? Do the tattoos that Ava have any meaning or are they purely decorative?
Thank you and have an amazing day!
Hello sunshine! I’m relatively well, thank you so much, I hope you’re doing the same.
Thranduil absolutely has a way of remembering everyone who has fallen. He keeps a massive notebook(s) with the name of the person lost, a good quality about them, the date of their death and how/why they died.
(I actually have a fic of this very thing.)
For Example -- T.A 1078 - Romien. Lost to save the lives of those under her command, every last one of them. Your voice in the garden will be missed until the word shares its breath with you again
T.A 106 - Hithudur. Lost from injuries after wrestling with Warg to save his daughter. Your loving heart will be missed until the world shares its breath with you again.
I do not think Legolas would see any point to making his own exhaustive list of everyone Greenwood has lost, his dad has that covered. However, I do think that Legolas would keep a list of everyone who died that he feels partially responsible/guilty about.
Ava’s tattoos are usually more ‘swirly.’ Partly because most of the tattoos are nature themed in some capacity and partially because she just thinks they look better when she dances. Most of them are just decorative or sentimental in some manner.
There are four that do serve a purpose, though.
Tattoo #1 & #2 - Usually get combined into one single design, but are technically two different tattoos with two different purposes. The first one marks her as Thranduil / Greenwood’s designated representative among the Avari Tribes, and the other marks her as a Silvan Elder. These are a bunch of fancy symbols and letters in a thin ‘band’ that flows from behind both her ears and along the hairline on the back of her head.
Tattoo #3 - Shows that she is a fully trained traditional dancer. These tattoos are on her feet and ankles. They make it look as though grasses and a few different flowers are growing on her feet and up her ankles/lower calves. Swirling among the flowers are wispy tendrils of smoke, she alternates between making the smoke black & grey or colorful each time they fade and she redoes them.
Tattoo #4 - A matching tattoo with Thranduil for *spoiler* reasons, that becomes relevant in future chapters of Effects Of War
You're welcome, thanks for asking 🥰🥰 Have a good day!
