I hadn't heard of the words 'copingkin' and 'copinglinker' before either! Copingkin is basically like otherkin, you don't get to choose your kintype and use it to cope. Copinglinkers are otherkin who do pick their kintype, in order to cope. I have a lot difficulties deciding what kind of otherkin i am myself, so i was curious to see how others define their kin ^^'

It’s different for everyone, it could mean VERY spiritually connected to an animal or something. It could be a coping mechanism for mental illness. It’s basically looking at something, feeling an intense connection to it, and going “that’s me”

there are different words for different types of kin things but I don’t really know them. I just say kin

Kin for me is def a coping mechanism. I’d check out some help blogs on here for better definitions, I’m not the best person to ask probably hahaha

Hey there! Your post is a bit misinformed. If you identify as otherkin solely to cope, you are NOT otherkin because it is not a choice, it’s a state of identity. Being otherkin isn’t about having a connection with something either, it’s an identity, again. Perhaps look into synpaths or being other-hearted?
