Im very interested in knowing how that first (re)introduction with Court went after he moved in across from Ryland and Simon. Like did they happen to leave home at the same time? Did Court say fuck it and knock on the door first? Im so curious lol. If you wanna talk on that point

The thing is. Court wants to introduce himself again to his baby brother So Badly. He wants back in his life so much that it hurts. Before it was always just a fever dream, a fantasy he thought about during long missions just to get him through them. And now it's right here in front of him. Literally. But he's also *terrified*. Because he's been nothing more than a ghost for so long that he doesn't know how to be anything else. So Court does what he's always done. He avoids Ryland and Simon and watches from a distance.

Claire gets sick of his shit about two weeks in.

She marches right up to Ryland and Simon's door and knocks.

Court panics and tries to pull her back and dart back off into their apartment, but the door opens before he can.

And then there Ryland is.

And for a few moments Ryland doesn't know what he's looking at. So he just stares. And Court doesn't say anything. He just stares too. Because there's his baby brother. All grown up. And he looks so different and yet he hasn't changed at all, and Court doesn't know what to *do* with it. Eventually Claire takes charge, because neither Ryland or Court are talking and if she's gotta be the adult here then so be it, and asks "are you Ryland Grace?". And Ryland blinks and nods, and Claire nods too, and she continues with "My name is Claire Grace. And this is Courtland Grace. He's your brother, right?"

Simon, who was just waking up from a nap, can hear Ryland's "what the fuck" from all the way in the bedroom.
