NEW RECORD

we meant to post this update to the tumblr awhile ago, but in case you didn’t know...

we have some very exciting updates. first of all, our new album is finally done and we're hoping to have it out by AUGUST 15! it's our first release since 2013 and our first ever actual record and it's gonna be on AN OUT recordings, an amazing anarchist, queer, feminist and anti-racist metal label. we're so beyond excited to see our third collection of songs come into being!

we're also collaborating on our first ever music video with shea, lawrence, and sep, three very incredible artists who also happen to be our dear friends. it's gonna be really special, so keep your eyes out.

FUCK NAZIS.

in the very first edition of our first tape, ALL’S LOST, there is a small drawing of the algiz rune on the insert. at the time i designed it i was unaware that the rune is a widely used neo-nazi symbol; a very brief google search could have revealed this, but i didn’t even think to do so, concentrated as i was on the positive spiritual symbolism i had read about regarding it. i’ve definitely learned a lesson about doing good research. as soon as someone informed me of its hateful associations, we made a post on here and removed the rune from any remaining tapes, future editions of the tape and merch. i had been drawn to the rune for its pagan symbolism of protection and strength. that doesn’t fucking matter; i don’t believe that in the current moment, a symbol like this, that is widely used as an expression of hate, white supremacy, and oppression, can be meaningfully “reclaimed” even though it has roots that are older than its current use. i feel like aesthetic choices that are not grounded or attentive to one’s wider analysis or professed values are bullshit; context is everything, and symbols are powerful, and linked to real and terrible things in the world.

i felt that it was important to state this again right now for anyone who cares or might have noticed the symbol on an old tape and been like what the fuck?, especially in light of recent events in olympia, where RAGANA formed, which can be read about here: olydocuments.wordpress.com.

if you have any old all’s lost tapes, cross the rune out, or send it back to us and we’ll send you a new one, for real.
