i did know it was foolish to want some intergenerational queer autistic exploration on emmerdale

but kev is not in the nick yay. the aaron-robert-kev drama is so lackluster. they need to get the camp back into this storyline. kev's revenge should be a younger, hotter boyfriend

why was samurai sword hostage sequence so lackluster ? i guess it's the low stakes continued. you just knew it would be a nothing-burger

idk i Have some thoughts about clearly Neurodivergent Kev, violence, post-prison, autistic son Lewis, and Nicola's protectiveness...

like i don't enjoy what feels to me Nicola infantilising Lewis since finding out about his autism and how it affects him. Lewis having a shutdown (aka v common autistic thing that Happens) doesn't mean he needs to be wrapped in styrofoam from hereon out

and i'm not saying that it's not coming from a good place from Nicola's pov, a place of care, because it clearly is, and i understand it also from the pov of, Nicola knows Kev's still doing crime etc. but i can't help being well... ick. Lewis is an adult, he should be the one deciding how he'd feel about his newly discovered father doing crime

also feel like part of Kev's instability is his clear neurodivergence and lack of support/recognition of it in his life. like he's in his 50s, post prison/a violent, unpredictable environment, etc. Nicola making fun of one of his coping mechanisms (snapping the band around his wrist) that he shared with Lewis, erm, idk...

in doctor Liam's defense, when i was at the psychiatric hospital last week, i heard the staff talk about a paranoid schizophrenic patient so idk. maybe charades in the pub backroom is more valid than i thought actually...

the whole thing feels a bit pointless as well. the whole, well we can't be together because blah blah kev will kill us

like robert continuously said him breaking up with kev would result in kev attacking robert, basically. did that happen, no it did not. what happened was very cringe drunk karaoke. which i'd argue was even worse but...

yes kev is dangerous, but idk this part of the storyline feels silly in a not-making-wholly-sense way instead of the campy fun silly way. idk
