Dimitri is earnest and noble in his pursuits. Byleth admires that about him and because he is so honest, there is comfort and safety there.

Byleth is one of the few people who can relate to Dimitri’s position. She is also not bound by the monarchy as she is not a native to Faerghus, thus, they can exist on an equal plane. Byleth can understand the weight of his responsibility and while she respects his position, she isn’t influenced by it in the way that the other Blue Lions are.

This gives Dimitri the freedom to relax into himself and just be Dimitri, the boy, not Dimitri the crown prince.
