A/N: So I had this idea and I was like, âhm, who would this prompt work for? OH SHIT I HAVEN'T WRITTEN FOR MICHAEL YET!â and it was a match made in heaven so here we gooo it's really corny so be careful. AND AH IT TOOK FOREVER AGAIN IM SO SORRY IM A PROCRASTINATOR
You stared at the ceiling fan spinning around and around above your head at midnight, according to the clock next to your bed, trying to lull yourself to sleep. You had almost succeeded, until your next door neighbor decided to get murdered. Or at least sound like he was being murdered.
You had met your neighbor, Michael Jones, only a couple of times, and honestly, he was pretty cute with his curly hair and shy smile. So you were pretty worried when he started shouting in the middle of the night.
You quickly threw back your pile of blankets, swinging your feet onto the hardwood flooring of your apartment. Your fuzzy socks slipped on the flooring, causing you to walk slowly and cautiously to the door. You grabbed a sweatshirt and slipped it over your tank top that you slept in, pulling open your door.
You stepped into the hallway of the apartment complex, walking the few feet to the door next to yours. You rapped on the door, trying to be loud enough so Michael could hear, but quiet enough to not wake the surrounding neighbors, even though they were probably already awake from Michaelâs screaming.
You heard angry footsteps quickly approaching on the other side of the door. You rubbed your arms, the cold of the hallway now getting to you. It didn't help that you were only wearing sleep shorts on your bottom half. The door was thrown open, an angry Michael on the other side. âWHAT?â His face was red, and he had an xbox controller gripped in his hands. When he noticed it was you, his features softened, and he quickly apologized. âOh shit, sorry (Y/N), I didn't mean to yell at you, I thought you were my other neighbor. I mean come on, who yells at someone at midnight?â His voice trailed off as his hand found his way to his neck, trying to hide his embarrassment. He did not expect to see a his neighbor he'd had a crush on outside his apartment at midnight in an oversized sweater and fuzzy socks. âAre...Are you alright? I mean, you woke me up because you've been yelling nonstop for the past half an hour, and I kinda got worried that you were being murdered or something...â You spoke softly, trying to laugh it off, not wanting him to know you actually cared about his well being. He was your neighbor, not your friend or anything.
Michael chuckled softly, looking everywhere but at you. âYeah, sorry about that. I didn't mean to wake you up, I was kinda just playing this stupid game.â He rubbed at his arm tiredly, his face slowly draining of the anger. You smiled gingerly at him, his eyes meeting yours. âItâs alright,â your eyes stayed on his, your voice slowly turning into a tired whisper.
Not wanting your eyes to leave his, you tried to keep the conversation going. âWhat stupid game are you playing?â You imitated his voice, a smile spreading across his face. His hands went into his pockets, his eyes shifting down to his feet. His face was red once more, but not out of anger, but embarrassment. You thought it was pretty adorable. âOh, it's just Golf with your Friends.â
Your hands went to your mouth trying to hide your giggling. âYou mean that you're telling me⌠That you're yelling at a video game about mini golfing?â You doubled over in giggles, tears coming from your eyes. Michael laughed awkwardly, suddenly realizing how stupid he sounded. âYeah, I guess I am telling you that.â You slowly stopped your giggle fit, looking up to meet Michael in the eyes. âWait, don't you need friends to play that game?â You poked fun at Michael, brushing a piece of hair off of your face that came loose. He let out a loud laugh and his face was slowly lightening up. âIt offers an online multiplayer.â He nodded his head nonchalantly, offering a small smile.
You nodded along with him, letting out a soft sigh. âWell, I guess I should be getting back to bedâŚâ You looked at your feet, running your fingers through your hair, pushing it back away from your face. âSo,uh, goodnight, Michael.â You smiled at him as you slowly walked back to your door. When you reached it and turned the knob, Michael was still watching you. âWait, (Y/N), do you, uh, maybe want to, uh, join me? I mean, do you wanna play golf with me?â You looked up at the curly haired man and walked back to him. âYouâre going down.â
