[Raises an eyebrow when she mentions ‘perhaps longer than you think.’] You think I am unaware of how much time has passed? [Sighs placing a hand on his forehead as his gaze lingers from the witch to the ground.] Only a few days ago. There was trouble in the land, did you not feel it? [Lowers his hand, looking back up to the witch.] But it has been fixed, of course.

[shrugs noncommittally] I never said that, but... Yeah. [nods, biting her lip as she looks around the area] I'd noticed it, yeah-- I just thought the Goddess wasn't doing her job. [her eyebrows quirk up, and she chuckles, a small, almost undetectable sound. She nods again, something of a smile coming to her face] Of course.

[Harvest King // Witch]

[He could feel the presence of the Witch, although it had been so long he could not associate what the aura belonged to. Inspecting his mountain-top curiously, his eyes show a slight surprise when the witch manifests before him.] You. [His voice is harsh but his eyes soften the smallest amount.] It has been a long time, Witch. 

[Her eyes widen substantially when she sees the King on the summit, her eyes narrowing a bit. Her mouth opens and closes multiple times as she contemplates what to say, and a long silence passes before she finally answers.] Yes-- [She faltered once, a wondering expression on her face] Perhaps longer than you think. When did you awaken?

"Well, I personally don’t think why you’re sick matters," he said. "You’re sick, so you should rest up, I think." He walked with her over to the couch and sat down. "So, have you got any other plans coming up?" he asked. "Actually, wait, there might be some things that might interest you when I go to Selphia. You want me to try and bring ingredients back for you, at all? I remember saying that I’d help you with that sort of thing awhile ago—that and I do owe you for one or two things."

She frowned, but complied wordlessly, sitting down with her legs crossed, facing him so she could talk more easily. At his question, the witch shook her head, shrugging. "Just the norm, I guess. But--" She paused as he started to speak again, nodding. "Oh, Selphia again?" She pondered the thought. "Well, I could always use some of the medicinal herbs they have there, if you don't mind. I could always go there myself, but I'm not sure where to find them." She smiled. "Thanks."

"Mega’s a strong girl," he said with a laugh. "I have a feeling she felt competition, after I mentioned people like you and Forte to her." He rubbed his neck. "Maybe I could show you her, one day? When you’re feeling better."

"It’s not dumb," he said. "I’m done with work for the day. We can just hang out,  I guess? What’s got you stressed out?"

The blonde lifted her head and smiled. "Eh, yeah, that'd be nice, I like horses." 

She frowned, disagreeing, but not wanting to argue, she remained silent. At the question, however, she shrugged. "I don't know. I haven't seen a few of my friends in a little while, and I also keep sneezing and coughing. I don't ever get sick, so I'm wondering why that would happen now."

Ah, yes.. We used to have three… but there are just two now… Mr. Neumann… and Mr. Camus… I felt rude about intruding… so I only went to the old , unused field… B-but perhaps.. It would be worth it to ask….

Yes… that’s what I thought… /adjusts her glasses/ I was cleaning one day… And I found a secret panel… in the library wall… This was the only thing in it… I asked Mr. Russell about it… but It must have.. been done by someone.. before Mr. Russell came here…

[nods] Yes, that may be necessary to figure out what this thing is.

[listens intently] Oh? Would you mind if I.. Took a peek there? There might be a hint as to the origins of the book...

Jack stood up and went to a cupboard, where he kept the over-the-counter medicine and reached into a bag, tossing a cough drop Witch Princess’s way. “I suppose things do look pretty, when you’re walking,” he said. “I’m thankful my horse recovered a couple days ago as well. She’s itching to go out riding more and the quicker I get to places, the less time I spend in the cold.”

"So, um…" He pondered how he would ask this for a minute. "What brought you to the Valley? We’re kind of a dead end, if you wanted to travel anywhere.

The witch caught the drop and popped it into her mouth after peeling off the wrapper. "Thanks." She muttered, listening. "Ah. Well, I guess that's good?"

At the next question, she shrugged. "I don't know, actually. I was feeling pretty stressed and you always seem to calm things down." When that phrase tumbled from her mouth, she put her head down, sighing. I must really be sick to say something like that. The witch spoke, still with her head down. "Sorry, that was dumb"

Jack sighed and sat back down. “Will you at least take a cough drop?” he asked her. “It’s not like you to be sick, Princess.” He looked at her smiling some. “Why did you walk here as opposed to teleporting anyways?”

The witch frowned, before shrugging. "Fine, a cough drop, then." She frowned. "I know--" She blinked hard for a second, inhaling deeply before sneezing into her sleeve. She sniffed and frowned, huffing. "Ugh. But I don't know, really. Change of pace? Magic tires me out during winters, probably because I get out less. Hence, I walk. Besides, I like the scenery."

Jack watched Witch Princess struggle to speak and he leaned across the table. “You sure you’re alright?” he instinctively reached forward and placed the back of his hand to her forehead. “I’ve got some medicine that might help with the cough, if you want.”

The witch instinctively leaned away from him when he reached out to her, although he was still able to feel her forehead. "I'm fine." She said quickly, looking away. She hated when people tried to care, it was almost annoying. When he offered medicine, she shook her head. "No, I'll be fine." She repeated, holding back another cough to risk him actually insisting upon it.

"I thought I did," Jack laughed. "He’s a bit of a pyromaniac, apparently." He gave her a concerned look, when she coughed. He was about ready to let her help herself to some of the counter medicine. "As for this knight’s friend, she and I have spoken to each other on occasion. Then I hung out with both of them, for a day." As much as he trusted Witch Princess, he was never going to tell anyone about doing Forte’s hair.

"Yeah," he said. "Still, if I was in academics still, Selphia and the rest of Norad would be a very good topic for a paper. I’m still trying to figure out how they still have a medieval lifestyle, where we did not. You lived through those times. It’s not exactly like ours, but it’s got a lot of similarities."

The witch's eyes narrowed, both at the comment about the knight's brother, and then when she noticed his concerned expression. She shook her head wordlessly. She nodded as he continued to explain his time in Selphia. "Mm, that sounds nice, actually."

The blonde nodded, about to reply before taking a sip of the water, frowning as she clears her throat to speak. "Erm--Yeah, I've been there once or twice, and I know what you mean--" She paused to cough, wiping the corner of her right eye. "It's strange--To see a place that's--behind on the times like that, but it's--rather--nice."

"A few friends," he said. "The Prince and I are close and the captain of the knights is also a good friend of mine. Though, that relationship was more risky than the one with the prince. Her brother probably wants me dead and her best friend also have this whole misunderstanding, back when we met, but…" Just recalling it now, he laughed a little nervously. "I really like it there."

She nodded, listening. "Ah, sounds like you're quite popular." She coughed and took another sip of her water, coughing a bit harder when he mentions the knight's brother. "Wh-What?" She frowned. "I think... Have you told me about him already?" She nodded. "But this best friend, hm? What happened with her, him...?" She wasn't sure if he mentioned whether the friend was a boy or a girl. "Well either way, if you like it, that's all that matters, in the end." She smiled a bit. "Places where we feel happy don't usually last long, so appreciate them while you can."

"Maybe you should bundle up more?" he asked her. "Actually, I’m glad you chose to come now, than later this month." Jack smiled leaning in. "I’d have felt bad if I had company come visit me, while I was out of town for the week. I’m heading to Selphia for a week, sometime in the coming days."

She shrugged absentmindedly, listening to what he had to say next. A small smile, and then she nodded. "Oh, really? You've been going to Selphia a lot recently-- [smirks] Going to see someone, hm~? [raises her eyebrows a bit]

"You alright, Princess?" he asked her as he got her a glass of water. He sat down at the table with her and looked outside. He did not even notice that it was beginning to snow already. It was December, now? Jack could hardly believe it.

She nodded, still scowling as she took a sip of the water. "Yeah, I will be. I forgot that walking outside in this time of year isn't very good for staying healthy." She shrugged. "But it's whatever, it's not like I haven't sneezed before."

"Gesundheit," he said with a chuckle. "So, what do you want? Water? Beer? Milk?" He walked to the kitchen and opened up the refrigerator for her.

"Thanks." She muttered as she followed him to his fridge, peering inside. "Water'll be fine." She said after a second, not really even looking. She sneezed again, frowning irritably when the noise she made came out like a squeak, rather than a sneeze.

I was.. thinking along those lines… I brought it to… the old abandoned field south of town… But nothing happened… Although.. that field hasn’t been used.. in quite some time. Perhaps.. it needs to be a field… that is currently growing something… I’m not sure…

But… do you think there is.. some sort of spell on it? Is it possible… to tell what kind book it might be..?

[thinks, looking over the book, running her fingers over the pages] Yes. there's definitely a spell on it to keep the information from just anyone... [looks at Tori] Where did you find this, again?

She blinked, sneezing into her sleeve. She frowned, wondering why he was being kind while she acted like a brat. She was about to say "no", but her voice cracked when she spoke, and she nodded instead, realizing that her throat was very dry for some reason.
