Late night wandering // MMMverse

Rave had snuck out out of the tower in need of fresh air. If he got caught he might be able to pass it off as being antsy after the full moon. He needed to get out, still not over the first challenge. Waking up in fire set him into panic and he still had not taken it out on anything. So walking in the cold air in nothing but jeans and a long sleeved shirt he hoped to make himself tired so he could sleep.

Dean had spotted him making his way through the halls in the middle of chastising two fourth year Hufflepuffs about sneaking out to the kitchens. After finishing with them and sending them back to bed Dean followed behind where he had seen the Ravenclaw boy. He stepped out behind him and called after him before jogging up to his side. "As much as I like a good walk as much as the next guy you know I've got to tell you to go to bed right?"

FIVE GRYFFINDOR HEAD CANONS

1. Their common room has not been redecorated in decades. Centuries, maybe. The Slytherins definitely win the award for redecorating the most frequently at once every two years, but even Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw redecorate every decade or so. The armchairs and four poster beds that Harry and company used are the same ones that the Marauders, McGonagall, and even Dumbledore were familiar with during their school years. Most wooden surfaces in the Gryffindor common room are covered with carvings of previous students’ initials. Harry spent a fair deal of his free time looking for his parents’ initials but never found them.

2. They are the only house with a protective spell to keep boys out of the girl’s dorms. Godric Gryffindor was a tiny bit sexist, but in a very chivalrous way. He was all about defending a woman’s honor (which probably got him in trouble with his badass lady contemporaries on occasion). Even though the spell is a little archaic, nobody has ever thought to remove it - most Gryffindors don’t even realize that such charms don’t exist in other common rooms.

3. Gryffindor students are the ones who are most frequently caught out of bed after-hours. It wasn’t just Harry and his friends that liked sneaking around (although they were certainly the best at it and got caught the least frequently). Gryffindor students are caught out of bed roughly ten times a month, as opposed to four Hufflepuffs (most usually found to be sneaking out to the kitchens), two Slytherins, and one Ravenclaw. The number of Gryffindor infractions took a significant dive twice; after the Marauders graduated and after Fred and George bailed on their seventh year.

4. Gryffindor has produced the most head boys and girls. Their natural leadership qualities mean that Gryffindors make excellent head boys and girls. Besides winning the count for the most head boys and girls overall, Gryffindor has also boasted the most students who were made head boy or girl despite not having been first made a prefect - a relatively rare occurance, and over half the instances recorded are Gryffindors.

5. Gryffindors have the most varied NEWT scores of any house. The other houses have subjects that they are stereotypically skilled at; Hufflepuffs tend to excel at herbology and history of magic, Ravenclaws at charms and transfiguration, and Slytherins at potions and DADA. This is not true of Gryffindors. Every graduating class of Gryffindors has a fair deal of “O” scores in every single subject.

HeadCanon #2: The Impala

Being that Harry, Ron, and Hermione were always heros of Dean's since he lived in America, being Rose's friend had some fun and unexpected perks. One year while he was visiting her and her family during the holidays Dean got her grandfather talking about the enchanted car he'd once owned, the same one Harry and Ron had once used to get to Hogwarts. Afterwards, Dean spent all of his summer holiday earnings on a '67 Chevy Camaro that he has tried to enchant several times to no avail.

Writing Prompt 2 || Calm Smile Tight Grip

Your character is in the audience for the first task. They sit in the stand surrounding a house engulfed in flames and watch as the champions and fellow students rush in to save their loved ones. How does your character feel about the situation? Do they believe their friends/classmates are real in danger? Do they care?

Dean had somehow managed to convince Rose that coming and watching and trying to relax with the crowd would be a much better option than sitting alone in Gryffindor tower waiting for the news that would come with their return. In some ways, Dean understood her reluctance about the event. She, after all, knew much better than most of them the effects that this tournament could have on the lives of the students involved as well as those around them. But this was a different age -- a time after war and death -- and Dean was sure that Ministry had taken proper steps to make sure that things were much safer this time around than they had ever been before.

Dean had just returned from one of the vendors with a glass of butterbeer in each hand, setting the glasses on the floor between them as he made himself comfortable against her side, other students crammed in on either side of them.

Though she might put on a brave smile for the younger students, Dean knew the sort of things that must be going through her mind as the announcer spoke of the dangers that awaited the champions within.

"Relax..." He said softly as he felt her grip tighten on his hand. He leaned his shoulder in against hers and returned her squeeze gently in hopes that he might be able to help comfort her. "You know they're playing it up, don't you? They want people to think it's really dangerous in there so they can give them a better show. Any idiot wizard can get through a burning building without a scratch." His voice was playful as he looked her over calmly, a small smile on his lips.

Perhaps it was wrong of him to be thinking about how cute Rose was when she was worried at a time like this, but he didn't mind. Dropping her hand, he reached down between them and held up one of the full glasses, nearly shoving it into her grasp. His hand dropped down to pat her knee lightly. "Drink up. And maybe eat something too... Otherwise you'll pass out from all that hyperventilating you're doing."
